Yeah this is as uninteresting as it gets on CP. I'm not sure when it became a crime to like things and not like others. If you believe in cables, awesome and if you don't....equally awesome but how about you realize that no one cares either way. IN a decade of audio forums this is still the most posted debate and still the most worthless read on any forum.

    VIVA LA MIT!

And you just had to join in on the fun because of how uninteresting it all is didn't you ;P

I agree with you on this one Gary. Rick's post was the best of this thread. Then, second was Jesse's.

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Not fair. You guys are pulling me back into this thread!
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Just received the October 2012 issue of the absolute sound and they interview the founders of MIT, Cardas Audio, Kimber Kables, Audioquest, and Siltech cables. They also review Siltech Explorer, Cardas Audio Clear, and Synergistic Research Element cables. Buy the magazine, read it, and learn something.

it's really very simple and untouchable.

That best cable possilble lets music go through without any change.

Copper is excellent conductor of signal, and assuming you have proper shielding and thicknes (nothing fancy) signal passes through it without any changes. Tested carefully by The Audio Critic and confirmed by every doubleblind test by an independent respectable institution.

Assuming there WAS a 'night and day' difference between the basic copper cable and other cables, one does arrive and severe logical contradictions. For example, having a system of separates would be a SEVERE disadvantage to a similar all-in-one AVR, for the simple reason that the AVR is soldered togerther without cables at all, and the separates will have to be connected with cables. So everything else being equal, system of preamp + copper cable + amp would have a severe disadvantage to the AVR made of the same components.

The whole exotic cable business is just cheap charlatanry, only it isn't cheap. The nice thing about it is that only the ones with the 'golden' ears that can hear those magical nigh and day differences get ripped off and sponsor this whole farce. Really, someone should come out and file a lawsuit against companies like MIT for outrageous claims that are scientifically impossible

and i am sane enough to know that i will never convert someone like heiney and his posse. That is not why i bother posting. But this place has thousands of viewers who never post, and others who dig these things years after. THere should be a trace of the truth somewhere, otherwise we are doing the community a bad favor, leaving them in heiney's paws.

Rav, I believe you have forgotten the answers that were already given to you regarding the reason seperates are better than AVR's despite needing to be hooked up with IC's. Go back and look them up again.

On page 50, William Low of AudioQuest, says "I use Polk Audio's introduction of Cobra Cable at the June 1976 Chicago CES as the opening shot in the cable wars."

Since Polk started high end cables, I guess it is appropriate there are cable discussions.
