Lots of nice work going on here. I've just returned to the forum after a long hiatus. I still have several smaller projects to work on in the future. Keep up the nice work. The information presented makes an interesting read as I learn something that may help me later.

@xschop Whats happening Hoss ! When the site took a plunge I did not get back on for a while. Looks like your work has been kickin **** and taking names ! This is some great stuff you are building here man. I finally found 4 Polk MW in Atlanta. One with a slipped magnet so I finally got to try the tool . Quick easy works perfectly. Another original Polk Mid woofer saved from the scrap heap. Drove 4 hours round trip but 30.00 for four MW 6500's was worth it. Well, I did pick up some other stuff while I was out and about you know..

Sorry for the REALLY late reply, but I did message you on the new forum months ago lol.

Don't toss burnt-coil MWs, they can be repaired without too much involved... Hit me up with PM if you chime in here in the next few months lmao.

Those are exceptional. However they belong in @VSAT88's Sl2000 thread.

Oh well, they fit here as well.. 🤪 also I’m fitting them with 198’s, well that’s my justification.. LOL!!

Damn; that sucks big time. I'm wondering what your solution is going to be?

The only solution is getting a set that will fit the RDO's (fingers crossed) Now that I see these I really want them..

I have one lingering SL3000 in my stash and these fit perfect, the RDO's have a different hole pattern..

Well next year you're going to have some rockin Christmas 🎄 ornaments!!
  • I am still very happy with the 6 plates you made for my rdo198's in my 2.3tl's. Took a while to change the tweets to the plates, but was well worth it. I kind of wish I had anodized mine black, but I just left them raw aluminum, with a coat of wax.
I would love to get a set of those rings like you have on all your drivers. That looks amazing!

I like the way they still project the underlying pattern/patina. Exquisite.

I really like the way the swirl/machining marks catch and reflect light. I briefly had second thoughts about having them anodized because I thought the coating would greatly diminish the pattern and patina. However, if I hadn't had them blacked out, the contrast between the bright aluminum surface and the black finishes on the rest of the speaker would have become grating over time.

Anodizing actually enhanced the pattern/patina because most of the obscuring glare from the bright metal surface is gone.
