My neck is 95% better and I'm continually ticking things off of my long to-do list FINNALLY, after about 14 years since I gave up my OCD. These past 3 years have been me climbing back up to be almost the man I was.
I was listening to Bob Seager yesterday. His Best-CD. Those KEFs were sounding great and the song "like a rock" came up. That song hit home! How time flies!
I have a nice big umbrella that can shed off most insulting innuendos. I used to be a perfectionist and hated dust. Vacuumed all the time too. Then my neck got bad and I found that rest was more important.
I've heard the proverbial "there's too much junk" in my room since I joined. And I understand 100% if the image/s make others cringe. I was down for about 10 years and that's when it got bad. I've told the story a couple of times HOW I got so much. It was buying audio stuff to help ease the suffering I was going through. Also, the prices I paid for the STUFF was always a bargain. The hoarders most repeated words, "they were bargains I couldn't pass up".
Now saving the old food boxes and old newspapers is at a level I don't think I could ever get to. I still hate spiders and roaches!!!
I don't think I'll be a one stereo guy ever again. I like the sound of too many speakers. Take my new to me repaired KEFs. Bought them for 50.00. Held on to them for years. Then a week ago, while re-organizing and condensing speakers to get ready to sell again ( my neck is doing great again, so I can easily meat people again ) I got to back of the room and pulled the KEFs out to repair those crinkled tweeters, if the replacements weren't going to cost too much. I found tweeters at Parts Express for 20 each. The reviews were pretty good. Now they're fixed, I've enjoyed them this past week, and they are a set I might...sell. But they sound sooo good to me right now. They ARE small...LOL, maybe keepers. LOL
I have a ton to sell! And I'll keep many gems because they are super special.
I used to be a one system guy because that's all I could afford. But then I found that set of Polk Monitor 10's at Goodwill and my pay grade had been increasing for years, the house got paid off and I then had SPARE $$ for STUFF.
I have 2 nibbles right now on 4 beautiful MCS towers I have placed on a few more local sites last night. I'd love to sell them OR donate or even give them away. Space is a commodity to me.
I'm going to sell some older collected speakers and stuff for what I paid pretty much now. It sure is a bad time to be selling though!
I just got 2 more nibbles since I was typing the above. That's 4 guys interested.

I got my Marantz CD 6006 today! My initial impressions are wow! What a difference! Been listening to various CDs today started out with dire straits. I had a really good soundstage with my SDA 1-b’s, but it made it even wider it really brings out the individual instruments really well. Really adds a lot of depth to the music. And then switch to a remastered copy of Jeff Beck‘s blow by blow. Jeez that was even better! It really brings out a lot of hidden percussion, sounds you name it! The drums on that CD are incredible they really came to life with the Marantz. I listen to Apple Music on my phone and it leaves a lot to be desired if you know what I mean. The Marantz has a USB plug on the front of the unit I hooked my phone up to that and played some fav tracks. It added so much warmth and depth I was really surprised! Still some of the recordings leave a lot to be desired but they still had improved clarity and soundstage. Right now I’m listening to an old CD Elton John’s yellow brick road it’s not remastered or anything but it really brings it to life! This is a great player For Anyone that just listens to CDs I’m very happy! It’s gonna be a great weekend!

Today I put the finishing touches on my rack for my HT. I could not find what I really wanted, and I figured even if I did, I’d never be able to afford it.
I wanted a minimalist cantilevered type design, that gave the appearance of floating shelves. I designed the supports out of some 3/4” oak plywood scrap I had left over from a previous project:
Then came the shelves - three total, 17”x60”. They are 3/4 MDF, painted black, then cover with glitter-infused Stone Coat epoxy, for a “galaxy” look:
The whitish lines in the shelves are actually the reflection of the Sheetrock tape joints in my garage ceiling, lol:
I plan to move it into position tomorrow and load it up - more pictures to follow...

It’s a “Stone Coat” epoxy finish - I did 3 coats to get max shine, depth and durability. I will post the fully assembled frame photos today - got sidetracked the past few days with an extended family death and funeral (Funeral during the Wuhan Virus outbreak - that’s a story for another time).

I got a quad pair of this Sivlertone's...(think it just relabeled Sylvania) like the Baldwin's? Brock? but anyways love the sound over the others I have tried!
I got them for $25 for the quad as no one else bidded on them ..thought the seller would get mad and pull them but he was honest and shipped them to me! Kudos to the Honest sellers out there!
just took another look..at the ebay add and he says they are Sylvania's from the 1950's

Ordered some Zu Audio DW as the starting point for a 2 channel rig a few weeks ago. Now I'm on the look out for an tube amp that wont break the bank. The DWs should be delivered by mid May.
I moved my modest office set up to my new office space a few days ago. Normally I sit is a bullpen like area. Due to COVID concerns I moved to my own space a few weeks ago. Having my own space to listen to music has improved my quality of life immeasurably!
Photo is taken from my listening position. My ears are just below the waveguides. Sounds pretty good and these little JBLs provide plenty of sound for this small space.
Right now we are all finding out just how many people really do serve their community and country. I'm thinking of Medical, Police, Fire, Critical service workers (from grocery stores to pharmacies to the farmers and factory workers that get the whole ball rolling). They are normally left out of the spotlight, but without them nothing else works. It takes a lot of dedicated hands pulling on the same rope to make our way of living function. My hat is off to so many.... My gig is easy compared to most.
@daddyjt: please grab one or more wide angle shots of the frame before placing shelves.
I think you built something very similar to what I have but you got to decide* the distance between the shelves*. That said I’d like to copy and mod (slightly) 😊

I moved it into place tonight in the theater room. Overall I’m happy with the look, however I wish I hadn’t done as much of a setback on each level. As it sits, it’s 10” back on the middle, and another 10” on the top. I may adjust it later for 5”. I will be adding more amps to the bottom shelf in the near future, so it won’t look so sparse:-)

Janet would not like the “gym bleacher” look: protrudes too far into a major flow of foot traffic but that appears EASY to change.

Yea, my wife roller her eyes, but she knows better than to ask, lol.
Sub is a Velodyne DD18. It is flat-out ridiculous - I actually have two, but one is WAY more than enough in that room!
Currently debating a preamp upgrade, either stay with the RLD-1 or try a few others and compare as this stock unit is 21 years old and still performs admirably. This is the only component in the current chain that hasn't been messed with and is also the oldest.
So I removed the lid and looked around to get myself into trouble. I figured I would try a small DIY project and replace one of the main outputs solid wire leads as well as the CD input.
Perhaps when it was new, the solid leads were what was best for the performance of this preamp. By solid leads, I'm referring to these.
Best part of this hobby is to experiment so I had some 15.5 ga Cardas Litz laying around and while not the ideal gauge for this application, I had to give it a try.
The stock leads are about 22-24ga so the 15.5 won't stay but will for this week.
I have some Jupiter solid silver 23 ga, Mundorf silver /gold 23ga, and also more Cardas 23.5 ga on order to try as well.
The 15.5 won't go through the hole in the board but I have a good bond for now, sorry, no pics.
I let everything warm back up and was PLEASANTLY surprised at the increased detail. Initial observations are the vocals seem to further seperate from the instruments with a darker background in between.
This needs more time before I can make a ruling, as well as the current time of day which won't allow me to crank it up.
These diamond points for a dremel type tool work great for me for drilling holes in PCB. Just pick the right one for the wire you are using by measuring with a caliper or micrometer. I would think that the 15.5 litz should be best and there is no worry of skin effect.

Today my stereo rig play the L200 Polk's Legends. I have been running them for 2 days now and I'm digging them to a point.
My 2 channel rig right now is a Rotel RX1052 in silver, a Sony DVPNS-9000ES SACD player, Pananmax 5100 Surge, Rocket 33 speaker wire single ended, Makenzie RCA Stereo cables for the SACD to the Rotel which are audioquest for those who don't know those model numbers.

So I removed the lid and looked around to get myself into trouble. I figured I would try a small DIY project and replace one of the main outputs solid wire leads as well as the CD input.
Perhaps when it was new, the solid leads were what was best for the performance of this preamp. By solid leads, I'm referring to these.
Best part of this hobby is to experiment so I had some 15.5 ga Cardas Litz laying around and while not the ideal gauge for this application, I had to give it a try.
The stock leads are about 22-24ga so the 15.5 won't stay but will for this week.
I have some Jupiter solid silver 23 ga, Mundorf silver /gold 23ga, and also more Cardas 23.5 ga on order to try as well.
The 15.5 won't go through the hole in the board but I have a good bond for now, sorry, no pics.
I let everything warm back up and was PLEASANTLY surprised at the increased detail. Initial observations are the vocals seem to further seperate from the instruments with a darker background in between.
This needs more time before I can make a ruling, as well as the current time of day which won't allow me to crank it up.
