Do you still own your first pair of Polk speakers?

Vintage or not and how long have you had them and what model are they. Give as much info as you want or as little. Pics optional.

I bought my 2b's (studio vinyl walnut) used in the early 90's for $650 I think. They are all original except I bypassed the polyswitches and added a capacitor to the tweeters. I use them the most out of all the speakers I own (about 6 pair, 4 pair are polks). They are part of my solid state rig where I listen to the radio and vinyl and cd's of course.

Almost, sort of. My first pair were monitor 5b's bought in 1985. Sometime in 1986-87 I bought RTA-11T's and I had those until about 3 months ago. I now have another pair of 5b's in my office rig.

I still have parts, here and there. In 1994 or so I went from a POS Yorx unit to a full on Prologic surround system (god bless student loans). Yeah I was stylin baby....Monitor 6 sub/sat package, CS200, M3II's. Had to put them with an Onkyo TXDS484 (?) and Onkyo C211 5 disc changer. That was the beginning of my audio obsession. I probably haven't come real far, but other things took over, school, work, kids, ya know. It was only about five or so years ago when I finally got back into it.

The Onkyo 484 was given to my neighbor who now uses it to power the digital jukebox in his bar/restaraunt/pool hall (the thing was built like a tank....never should've got rid of it). The 5 disc changer lives on in my main rig, mostly as a zone 2 patio party engine.

As far as the Polks go the same neighbor got the M3II's (I don't know what he did with them) and the Monitor 6 system has been split up. The sub is handling the low end of the Aperion 422's in the bedroom and the sats are supplementing the newly arrived Monitor 7B's as surrounds. The CS200 was pulling center duty in the basement budget rig along with R20's and R15's. Now that the 7B's have arrived the whole rig is being sold to a friend.

I started with Polk, wandered, came back with Infinity, searched, found B&W, and finally re-discoverd vintage Polk.....ain't this hobby great :D

SDA1C's purchased 2/25/1989 from Stereo Lab in Columbus, OH for $1500. From the receipt it looks like they threw in the AI-1 N/C. I'm listening to Brandenburg Concertos through them right now.

None of the stores I bought equipment from exist anymore, such a shame. I called a shop in the Columbus area a few days ago and the salesperson was clueless, builds lots of confidence.

I may go a different direction soon, switching from Carver 4.0t's to a Bryston 4BSST. Oh, and my Sony ES is dying a slow death...grrr:(

'88 or '89 - SDA 1b's in walnut vinyl. Still have them (although the cabinets are now shot - pressboard does not suvive flooded basements well)

Still all original. I pulled them out when I purchased my LSi's and the vifa tweeter blows away the SL2000. (have not upgraded them to silk domes yet)

I have always toyed with the idea of building new cabinets for them from good furniture grade plywood.

In 1985 I purchased Monitor 7C's and NAD 7140 receiver at Island Audio in Galveston. I'm embarrassed to admit I tried to "upgrade" to a $2000 Bose Lifestyle home theater system 2 years ago.:o The terrible sounding equipment was returned to the outlet mall the next day. I could not believe Bose would sell something that sounded that bad.

The 7C's match up well as side surrounds with 3.1TL mains I purchased last year. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showpost.php?p=602779&postcount=5

I'm not sure which came first, but my first two speaker purchases were Mini-Monitors and 7b's. I still have them. The MM's get daily use in the kitchen. The 7b's would be nice in my home office but are a touch too big so I use them in my shop/workout room.

I still have the Monitor 10's which were purchased new in 1980. Not sure whats going to happen with them now since I have a pair of SDA2a's now. Thank god my mother and father kept them in their house while I lived in Boston, Cleveland and Wisconsin for over 20 years. Hooking them up after all those year was a great feeling. They also led me to a phone call to polk customer service and a conservation with Ken who put me onto Club Polk and you guys put me onto the SDA line. Once in awhile I listen to the 10's and must say they sure do sound great, they have the Peerless/Denmark tweeters.
By the way, I had work in sales and marketing for over 20 years and I must say the performance of Polk Customer Service is exemplary.

No. Some **** STOLE my 5's out of my dorm room in 86 during spring break. Probably someone I knew scoped them out. I got a lot of compliments on them.

This year I got a "new" set off ebay to replace them.
