I used to own a pair of SDA 1B's. I did a few things to improve their sound and appearance:

    SDA 1B Cabinet Modifications

    Improved SDA Interconnect Cables

    Improvements To The SDA SRS

Those really look great, I have to admit if there is anything I never was crazy about, it's the original cheap vinyl veneer. I've thought about stripping it and replacing with oak, but it just hasn't made it to the top of the to do list. I've ordered the Compendium and am looking forward to trying some of your recommended modifications. My speakers sound damn good already, I would just be curious if the upgrades are better or just different.

Wow, shipped on the 21st, received on the 23rd, extremely well protected. Your documentation is superb and even though I've been out of the technical side for 20 years, it's very understandable. Thanks

I need sleep. I have read the book twice in one day. It takes a lot of time, and research to put together a book like this. For the price DK isn't trying to make a bunch of money. It is really easy to see the love of the task to put together a book like this. I was thinking of building a display case for the book near the speakers. I really like black walnut, but it might clash with my SDA's.

    Thanks DK
    Ben
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

DarqueKnight, if you could PM me with contact info I'd like to order a copy. I'll not spam the forum to enable sending PMs.

My babies are SDA 1C's (circa 1989 vintage), 4 RD0194-A have been ordered. I give plenty of credit to Polk for maintaining and even improving replacement drivers for these aging beasts.

If you own SDAs this is required and, quite frankly, very interesting reading. I'm on my third round with it and haven't scratched the surface yet. Tremendous resource.:)

The SDA Compendium is a coffee table book.....much like Tolstoy, Kerouac and whatever religion you subscribe to.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Hi,

I'm really new here. Is there a way to get a copy without violating forum rules? I've been lusting after SDAs since college.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Raife after Antny and I changed out the SL3000 with the RD0198s we pushed on the passive radiator and all the drivers lurched forward but slowly went back almost completely. . . it this an indicator of an air leak somewere in the cabinet? I just purchased a number of different speaker gaskets from parts express just in case.

There is an air leak somewhere. The cabinets are not supposed to be perfectly airtight, but the drivers should not be snapping back immediately. When I push in on my passive radiator, the drivers will slowly move move backwards for a little over three seconds, but they never move all the way back until I take my hand off the passive radiator.
