Possibly the most beautiful car ever built, featuring the longest fenders ever hung on a car. They were constructed to represent the resurgence of the German Navy and were presented as gifts by the German Chancellor of the time to Admirals and such as gifts from the German people. I have a drawing of that very car out in the shop, John. Honestly. It would be hung on the walls of my home if moisture did not hit the hand signed print. Idgit (me)

Few cars come close to those big Benz machines, and this is one of them.

65 Ford Falcon. My first car.

    4vdu72g70z7j.jpeg

The first car I ever drove was a 1965 Falcon that looked exactly like that, save for the color, which was some sort of "sea mist green".

My first car was a 1966 Mustang Fastback.

Concerning the 455, GM had a rule that no A-Body car could have a bigger displacement engine than the Corvette. So to get around this rule the geniuses at Oldsmobile hired George Hurst to convert Cutlass 442's to the venerable Hurst Olds with balanced and blueprinted 455's.

This started in 1968, the first year the 442 was an actual standalone model rather than a performance package.

    The rest is history.
The real concern was horsepower. No car could have more horsepower in their top performing engines than the vette had, but that did not stop John DeLorean from finding creative ways of telling the top brass to pound sand.

I feel that car has the coolest musclecar grille of all time. I think 1970-74 Barracudas are all similar, although I'm not sure. Also, the 1969 Camaro grille is a thing of beauty.

Unique times in the American automotive industry for sure. And yes, cubic inches usually relate to horsepower in most cases.

There was a guy in high school who had a tricked out ‘62 Chevy II (iirc) and he’d do reverse to lows in front of school and burn whole tires off to crowds of kids chanting his name. Very sweet looking pocket rocket. You’d see him in a cloud of smoke, and he’d get a little ways and Pow then you’d see him jacking his car up to change a tire. He had friends on all the streets coming towards school with CB radios to warn him if cops were coming. After a while he had to cool it of course. I heard he rebuilt the motor every winter just for kicks. What else would he do in Wisconsin in the winter?

My favorite is the 1968 Dodge Charger RT. I had a green one like the photo with a 440 magnum. Crashed it when I partied too hard and ran a red light . I had it in storage in a gravel pit while I waited to find a clean front clip. Moved to Florida for a few years and my brother sold it behind my back without a title for junk. I could have killed him. But I didn’t.

I remember when I was growing up in N. VA, there were a bunch of tricked out VW Bugs....I loved the variety of them...

The mods were endless. My favorite was one that was around the block from me. It was a tricked out Bug made to look like a cross between a Woody and Dodge's "Little Red Express". I can't seem to find any picture whatsoever to represent that car that dude had but that thing was bad ***!!! Looked like a VW version of this truck below with a Woody exterior and a wood bed/tailgate with a hood that kinda looked like the photo above...

My favorite is a car that I once owned. It was the first new car that I purchased upon finishing college. It was a 1967 Ermine White Camaro Rally Sport with covered head lights and black interior.

I ordered the car from a Chevrolet Dealership in Bremen Georgia. It had a 327 engine with a Hurst shifter. I still have the original invoice. I think it was just around $3100.

I have some "paper" pictures but the one from the internet below is almost identical. God I wish I still had the car.
