  • Ok, if this is still open and Larry is going to be making a run of the cases, I'll be in for one. Hopefully this is not yet closed. If you all think this will work wonders for a common ground amp with 3.1TL SDAs, I'll go with it.

@GospelTruth I too have a pair of 3.1TL’s (and I’m using some Monitor 5jr’s for surround duty) and YES this sucker works wonders for them!!

Received a quote. Compared to 2016: same unit pricing, $1.50 increase in shipping, 2 week longer lead time, no discounts 30-40.

It would appear we have hit the 25 unit discount threshold yes?

This is the case I use for the 800VA, as have others:
    http://www.hammondmfg.com/pdf/1550N.pdf

How about a group buy on these?

But will it fit the 1k? That'd be the main issue seeing as we're in for a group buy on the larger unit.

They make different sizes. Digikey carries Hammond, and I believe Mouser as well.

Not sure it would justify the effort for a group buy discount
This was Digi-Keys breakdown for the 1550N in quantity.

Well as I sit here this morning listening to my 2.3tls with the 800va Dreadnauht wondering how could it get any better than this, I decided to give the 1000va a try. If it improves the awesomeness I'm experiencing this moment. That is if Its not to late.

    Dreadnought Case Interest check here...

    https://forum.polkaudio.com/discussion/184782/dreadnought-case-interest-check/p1?new=1

I cannot touch the price of those Hammonds, and totally understand if someone wants to go that direction. Two things I see with those is there is no finish, no holes, and the sides are tapered so I don't see how you would have it stand on it's side..

I used a Hammond for my 800va version and it does work(it'll stand on its side with a little lean) but they don't look nearly as nice as your cases when anodized black. I think I'm gonna jump in on one of your cases this go round.

In case there are folks who are new to the Dreadnought and would like to investigate in advance of joining @pitdogg2's 2019 Group Buy, here is some info:

    PURPOSE
The purpose of the group is to purchase at a discount the Avel Lindberg 1000VA isolation transformer for use in the AI-1 Dreadnought developed by @DarqueKnight which greatly improves the sound quality that is possible from Polk's SDA speakers. See DarqueKnight's upgrade thread for details.

    ORDERING
Cost is TBD, based on the soon-to-be-received quote and participation level. Historically, there are price breaks beyond the 10-unit minimum at 15, 20, 25, and 30. The quote at 10ea in 2016 was $292.88 plus $17.55 shipping & insurance. A-L will provide quotes for any shipping outside the CONUS.

Once the group buy goal is reached, full payments are collected from members. Once all payments are collected, the order is placed and payment made. Lead time has historically been quoted at 12 weeks which allows plenty of time for members to purchase cases and parts. Units are shipped directly to members via USPS Priority Mail. Packing is adequate but not luxurious.

    DESIGN & ASSEMBLY INFO
Assembly is very easy and straightforward, and the end product is extremely rewarding.

    BINDING POST CONNECTIONS
DarqueKnight's original Dreadnought. Note this is using the 800VA, but the 1000VA is the same scheme.
    Right Pin = Red/Yellow
Right Blade (Negative Speaker Terminal) = Black/Orange
    Left Pin = Grey/Brown
Left Blade (Negative Speaker Terminal) = Blue/Violet

    NEUTRIK CONNECTIONS
