You've been holding out on us @SCompRacer ! Nice TT's! The speed control unit is way cool! Too bad he closed up shop.

    Not intentionally...I'm old and forget...lol

Here is another from the past. My first Nottingham, a Spacedeck, with Sumiko Blackbird. This pic was taken at a couple day Bloomington Polk Fest quite a few years back. I loaded up a white van (really!) with my system and some speakers for sale. Great time!

It is kewl looking with the bird!

It was very nice. Fast, detailed, but some issues with the highs. But it was a high output, and high output MC's can be peaky in the top octaves. After this cartridge, I just went with low output MC's. At first with high gain MC phono stages, then with passive gain SUT's (Step Up Transformers) and MM phono stages. If you get one, I'd go with the low output.

I had a problem with the first Blackbird. As I recall the cantilever is long, and the suspension sagged badly on the first one I had. It was replaced under warranty and the second one was fine.

I can't recall what became of it. I may have sold it with the Linn LP12 as that is the arm it is pictured on. The first design of the Linn Ittok arm had sensitive bearings that could be easily damaged, which made made your Ittok become a tick tock. :D

Oh, regarding the Linn LP12. I made a service station for it out of some scrap parts and table legs. Some folks used chairs back to back or stacked books on a table, but this stand made it easy to service. I got a pretty good price for the stand when I sold it. This stand worked perfect on a bench.

The suspension.....I had issues when I first rebuilt the table with new springs. It would tend to bind. Then I came across and old and obscure post at pink fish media site. Springs have a beginning and ending coil. By fiddling around changing the clock position of the three springs, you can get the suspension to move without the springs fighting each other.

Yes sir. Burned up the first power supply, and had quite the debacle finding a new one (even exchanging messages with Roy Hall himself), and finally found one from Adorama so I’m back in business.

I use the block, then 4 vibrapods, then a Ginkgo isolation base and I can basically body slam somebody without a hint of a needle jump.

The isolation base came with the TT when I bought it.

That is without question the most magnificent looking tt I've ever seen. If that got retired or put out to pasture by digital then I don't feel so bad now in my thinking that my lowly Clearaudio tt always took a backseat to digital as well.
