I asked for a cork TT mat for Xmas and got one....man, talk about static. Had to take it off and go back to the stock rubber mat. I hope in the humid summer I can try it again. Anybody else experience this with cork?Yep, my name really is Bob.

I have a home brew mat that I like a lot, basically its composed of a very thin cork sheet (a few sheets of paper thick) glued and compressed onto a thin piece of leather, (unfinished side up), not too ugly and works like a charm. So I was reading some of the Japan market Micro Seiki's were designed for only 100v. Some run a AC converter. Have you had any issues? That's an interesting question. The DQ-50 is kind of a rare bird; The Micro Seiki it looks identical to is the DD-8, which *is* a 100V motor, I believe.
Tonearm is some iteration of their vaunted MA-505. It doesn't have the "on the fly" VTA adjusting that some of the standalone MA-505s do, but I'm happy with it.
Anyway, mine's fine directly plugged into the wall, so no worries for me.Jay

I love looking at turntables. I was a HUGE fan of linear tracking, and owned 2 different brands of linear tables. IIRC, Yamaha PX-3 and a Pioneer PL1000?? Both very smooth and very quiet turntables.
