this weekend, I’ll be setting aside my Buchardt’s for a while and reconnecting the Salk HT2-TL‘s .... and a couple of weeks after that I’m going to remove my Cary preamp and run the Lampi as a DAC/pre.
Presently, there’s 2 vol controls in the mix. That can’t be good. As good as the the Cary is, eliminating it might be beneficial . . . That’s the goal, in an attempt to downsize.

Found a Counterpoint SA2000 on eBay and took a chance. The good…looks like it was modded by Alta Vista with upgrades to almost all of the caps. Even the rectifier was upgraded. 8 pairs of RCAs were replaced. All of the solid state buffer circuitry was pulled as well. Based on the old Alta Vista website, someone dropped a couple grand on the mods. Came with original box and manual to boot. The bad…it has a hum in the output.

Even after replacing 22 PCB components, I still had speed fluctuation issues with this unit. Generally, I had been following guidance from this website: https://www.leson.org/the-denon-dp-3000-project-unidentified-fulfilling-object/A while ago, I bought a Denon DP-3000 turntable that ended-up having erratic speed fluctuations. Finally got around to doing a PCB refresh with 13 new transistors, and 9 new electrolytic caps.
Testing afterwards has been very successful!
I posted about this setup before, with the goal of having a Micro Seiki MA-505L (12") arm mounted on the large Denon DK-110 plinth
During my remove-and-replace exercise of electrolytic caps, and the main board transistors, with recommendations obtained from the leson.org website (previously referenced), there were three transistors curiously omitted - the (3) 2SC1222 transistors. So, I left the old ones in place, thinking they must not play a significant role in speed regulation.
Then, after replacing the 22 board components (call it 23 since I also replaced the TA7061AP IC chip), and still not having success in regulating the speed, and with nothing to lose, I ordered three of the 2SC1222 transistors @ $2USD/each, plus shipping. While removing the remaining three transistors, one of the circular soldering pads partially lifted off the PCB, and about 1/3 of the 'circle' broke-off. Fun! Luckily, I have a few PCB repair supplies from circuitmedic.com, and a tiny piece of bonding film got things sorted. I highly recommend their products.
Anyway, after replacing those (3) 2SC1222 transistors, the speed has now been stable! I guess it figures that after replacing 23 other components before this, it was these last 3 that actually fixed the problem (hopefully!).
Who knows which particular component, or combination thereof, actually fixed the issue, but obviously I'm glad it is now working properly, and holding steady speed. I did a lot of research on the web trying to figure this out, but it seems there is no clear-cut, consistent solution for speed issues with this generation of Denon DD turntables. What solves the issue with one unit will not necessarily solve it for another unit, so it becomes somewhat of a shotgun approach.
Funny story: in my frustration and haste, before resolution, I placed a bid on eBay for a DP-2000 (with quartz-controlled speed), and wouldn't ya know it...I won. I've been practicing this as my speech to my wife. What do you think?

Thanks, and good-eye on the plinth. It's a Denon DK-110 plinth, which was their 'big-body' plinth - able to accommodate longer tonearms. In that generation of Denon decks, there was the option to mix-and-match direct-drive motor units with their plinths/bases.

Yes as it is a 6sn7. CV181 designation means "civilian valve 181" just like the military VT designation for tubes. -
