Thanks man. The driver sure is a thing of beauty. My cabinet on the other hand, could use some work. LOL! I do have plans on having one built professionally though. Probably in a rosewood veneer to match my speakers, A/V stand, & rack.Denon 4311ci

BTW E,
8 power tubes arrived but the amp is on the slow boat arriving probably late next week. Yep, it's quite the torture to stare at tubes but no amp to use them in! Curse the shipper!:D -

I did for awhile and preferred it for many applications. I changed back after a few months due to a couple of wicked hot BDs that distressed the sub at high volume. You lose about 5dbs down low in sealed mode, but for music it's better. For movies, sharper attack, but you lose some of the visceral subsonic signature. I think it was The Hulk and Valkyrie that prompted me to change back.

What did you notice that made you believe the sub was stressed, Bottoming/popping? -

It will allow you to run at limit without distress, as well as, a db or 3 more output. After, I will probably keep it in sealed mode.

I am in the process of buying two subs for my cinema room. I am mixed up between these two:
a) Dual Klipsch KW-120 THX + Emotiva XPA-2 amp OR
b) Dual SVS PB-13 Ultra
I have a Klipsch THX Ultra2 9 Channel Speaker Step up in the cinema room. Of course my heart beats for the Klipsch subs but after reading through the forums, they say that the PB-13s are mightier in both HT and music.
I only managed to find the Freq vs SPL chart of the DUAL KW-120s and SINGLE PB-13. What about DUAL PB-13s ? Is there a chart ?
Money wise, they will cost me the same brand new ........ so my door is open for both !!
Thanks for your opinion guys !! -

would suggest emailing SVS. Since you have the Thx Ultra2 speaker setup, I would say go for the KW-120
subwoofers and the KA-1000 THx amp.Linn AV5140 fronts

Personally I don't mind buying the dual PB-13s even though I have a Klipsch THX Ultra2 setup. Just want to know which is the best.
Dual Klipsch KW-120 specs:
130dB @ 30Hz, 122dB @ 20Hz, 112dB @ 15Hz 1/8 space, 1m (2 enclosures side-by-side per THX Ultra2)

Yes I will email SVS and hopefully get an answer from them.
Both are great sub-woofers, I think you would be very happy with
either one. The Thx Ultra2 KW-120 may be a better match for your

For dual, co-located subs you can add simply add 6dB onto the single measurements.
By the facts displayed in the Freq vs SPL charts, it seems that the Klipsch subs are more dynamic and powerful.
But that does not convince me. I want to know the opinion of someone who experienced both !!
Anyone ??? -

This sub can go maximum to 100dBs (1 foot away). Adding another sub, will go to 106dBs. What do you conclude guys ? Need your help.
KW-120s are THX certified therefore the results are 100% true.
Danz you heard both ! Need your honest opinion PLEASE
You seem to like the PB-13 Ultra more ...... hehehe -
Check the SVS PB-13 Ultra FREQ vs SPL Chart from 1 foot away:

My vote goes to SVS because its got the amps built in for you so it saves you some rack/entrainment center room...that and I really really like SVS..
Or get both and return the one you dont like (SVS has 30 day return, so does Emotiva, not sure about Klipsh)"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Hello again guys.
After extensive research about the Dual KW-120 THX and Dual PB-13 Ultra I came to a conclusion (after seeing numerous charts and reviews) that the PB-13 Ultra is better than the KW-120.
If you compare the subs from frequency 20Hz+, they are practically the same. But if you compare them from 20Hz down, then you see the magic in the PB-13 Ultra.
Therefore if you are looking for the dynamic punchy bass of the KW-120s but you want also the extra deep deep bass of 10-20Hz, then go for the Dual PB-13 Ultras.
This is of course my personal opinion based on the research I have done.
