Yeah, they aren't 24K alone....I know the crate DOES NOT come with a fuel injection system....You can carb them now too...Don't know why you would. He tends to buy things from the first place he finds them as well....It should be interesting to see what his dumb **** messes up in this project...I had to re-build his 383 for him after he screwed that up...It is sure fun to get a few bucks off of him when he plays with things above his head...

I can't believe they're going to have a forced-induction powerplant in a Corvette. That's just not rate. Naturally Aspirated is synonymous with American, with Muscle Car, with Corvette, with Camaro.

Isn't that the same car you were crapping on in the other thread? Way to stand on your morals and be consistant...

    Gary:

You don't screw around do you? Do you do all your own mods? I used to love working on cars but any more there are too many rubber hoses and electronics for me to muck up. I'll stick to breaks and suspensions as those have't changed much.

I remember working on my 65 'stang in HS and my friends 68 Nova and his brothers 70 charger. All sweet rides. I'd love to have my 65 back. I think about 50% of that car was my parts and labor by the time I was done with it.

We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

Off the top of my head, 11.05 @ 120.xx, 1.49 60', that was with 397rwhp/370rwtq. At 410rwhp/390rwtq now and just recently worked most of the bugs out of it. Just ran 11.17 @ 120 on a day 45 degrees warmer than the day I ran the 11.05, so I should be in the 10's this fall.
    My 11.62 @ 114, 1.54 60' still stands for the quickest C5 with just bolt ons(stock heads/cam, no nitrous/FI).
Gary, yes I use The Vette Doctors.

Toyota has the lowest defect rate of all Cars in the U.S.
The price is high because demand is high. The cars are great.

    The dealers are horrible
I would have a Toyota truck right now if they had even hinted that they cared. I wanted one. They just threw **** at me for an hour and a half. No price could be pried from their lips. Just sign this form.
Then we will qualify you and tell you the payment amounts. Yeah right.
Managers appeared. The service manager appeared. They would have lined up the pope to meet me.
Just don't ask them to commit to a price.

Fun fact: Ford is now in 2nd place for their defect rate!
Before anyone gets their panties in a wad, the problems most have with
new Fords are the result of design, not the workmanship of the worker bees.
Long way to go to reach the good design/quality build/Kaizen
loop that Toyota has. The next step is up to Ford management.

MOTOR TREND CAR OF THE YEAR AWARD (LAST 30 YEARS)
    2006 Honda Civic: Thrilling ride...not.
2005 Chrysler 300: Haven't we been here before?
    2004 Toyota Prius: Why?
2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe / Sedan: Okay, this is a car worth talking about.
2002 Ford Thunderbird: Retro nod to the US industry
2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser: It's an inverted bathtub. Nothing new or innovative
2000 Lincoln LS: Okay, not a bad idea.
1999 Chrysler 300M: Some cool ideas here. Okay car.
1998 Chevrolet Corvette: A Corvette for the 90s
    1997 Chevrolet Malibu: Yeah, right.
1996 Dodge Caravan: It was news in 1984.
1995 Chrysler Cirrus: Some good ideas, lots of issues
1994 Ford Mustang: I can buy that. Was an okay car.
1993 Ford Probe GT: Why not give it to Mazda?
1992 Cadillac Seville Touring Sedan: Sporty, for an 80 year old
1991 Chevrolet Caprice Classic LTZ: How do you spell UGLY?
1990 Lincoln Town Car: I used to own a '73 Galaxie, TC had nicer interior
1989 Ford Thunderbird SC: BMW rip-off with more power
1988 Pontiac Grand Prix: Okay car, but if that was the "best" of '88....
1987 Ford Thunderbird: Ford rips off a 70's BMW design
    1986 Ford Taurus LX: A rental legend...zzzzzzz
    1985 Volkswagen GTI: That's a cool car.
1984 Chevrolet Corvette: Finally, a Corvette for the 80s vs the 60s
1983 American Motors Renault Alliance: Big POS, weird and unreliable
1982 Chevrolet Camaro Z28: Pile of poo. QC issues up the ying-yang
1981 Chrysler K-cars, Dodge Aries/Plymouth Reliant: Change of direction.
1980 Chevrolet Citation: Change of direction, not a good car.
1979 Buick Riviera S: Yeah, boring AND unreliable. Plaid golf pants anyone?
1978 Chrysler, Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon: No. Not worth cheering.
    1977 Chevrolet Caprice-Boooring, nothing special

Very interesting. For years, Motor Trend was the American car "excusemaker", and this list surely proves it. This list is largely a very sorry mix of cars, some picked because they signaled a move by the "Big 3", not because they were good cars, because they were milestones. I had to add some notes onto the list to solidify my position. The list is totally lame. I guess I expect more out of a "car of the year" than this.

My brother-in-law owned one of those back in the day and it was a real dog of a lemon. It was always in the shop. If I remember correctly one of the nagging problems was with the tranny. Now that may be just one car but going on that experience I would never buy one.

Funny thing is when I first saw one, and I remember this clearly, I said, "it looks like a big giant stepped on a car." LOL.
