    Apple Carplay.....seriously!?!

Would you rather he spin those stone tablets played by a parrot’s beak?

I LOVE apple carplay in my wife's pilot. My expedition is a few years older and despite having pretty good tech for the year (2014) integration with my phone is spotty at times. Bluetooth always works but that doesn't do hands free call and text features as well, which is really important for many of us. And the integrated of apps including google maps maps, waze, and Tidal is REALLY awesome in airplay...

Seems handy if you're a consistent iphone user. More efficient than tinkering with your phone while driving and also safer.

I dunno man, read some reviews on the F-sport versions. Rough riding. There is one other thing that has kept me from buying a newer Lexus.

That crappy infotainment system they have on all models. Probably the worst system I've ever encountered in the industry, even a Ford Fusion has a better one. Hard to use and still keep your eyes on the road. Research it bro, nobody cares for it.

Hence the Apple Carplay being a necessity for the day to day stuff.

I believe LS500 is best compromise of speed and luxury and family usefulness.

Cheaper than an AMG and still looks good though not as good as the LC500.

Will buy certified preowned likely within a year, hoping to pay 50s.

The only catch on the 2018 is that it doesn’t have Apple carplay that the 2019 has but there’s a download you can do, so it will be necessary that the dealer install Carplay on the 2018 if I buy one.
MB, Lexus are not a surprise and obvious choices.

Lexus is introducing a touchscreen on the 2020 RX so, I'd imagine it will be standard across the line. Personally I don't have a problem focusing on the road when I use mine. Don't know if he's driven an F-Sport LS. My 18 GS F-sport doesn't ride rough but it's not an LS.

So if it were $80k new and it’s expected to retain 44% of its value in five years puts it about $45k at that time. You can figure the first two years of depreciation will be the largest drop in value, so roughly 25%. I think that unless you’re looking at a car with over 80k miles in a year and/or a base model, you won’t hit the $50s price point. I think you can expect to pay low $60s at best for one that’s moderately equipped and under 50k miles.

    My best guess anyway.

Agreed Jeremy. I'd guess ~$65K to get a CPO LS500 in great shape and with low miles.

Of note, those are both Lexus Dealer CPO so there’s extra cost built in already.

So a thousand miles away to find at least one of those examples? I see those those are likely the exceptions not the rule; or a bait car.

I think that color on the LC500 is Atomic Silver. That looks really good in person on any Lexus I've seen it on.

Regarding pricing, the market has been turned upside down lately for sedans because of people going for SUVs. I would expect that the original purchaser of an LS did not pay MSRP, and the pricing has dropped much more for used models than would normally be the case. The LC may be a different matter because it's not a sedan and anyone who is interested in a coupe would not be interested in an SUV anyway. Of course, it's also a good idea to be on the lookout for flood damaged or wrecked and repaired cars. There are a lot of those out there now.

Those are Lexus Dealers not a general lease sale dealer or independent. That’s a general idea of what the price will be. That’s in addition to being certified. That alone adds about $3,000 to the asking price.

Keep in mind the car is 1y old at this time. No reason why in a year I can’t get it down to high 50s.

As much as I want an Audi A7, Lexus ES300, Toyota Avalon I wonder about the upkeep over time. One car in will be watching in 2-3 years is the VW Arteon on the used market. VW has upped their game a bit...but it's a little pricey new.

In another year I can easily see them being in the mid $50’s.

Besides they are a sedan. If it’s not an SUV it’s taking a beating in value right now.

A used search right now turns up 98 units advertised with about 10% under $65k and only three total under $60k. The vast majority are still over $70. So yeah I agree you’ll no doubt find a car in the $55-60. Just look it over real good. But the search is a big part of the fun anyway, enjoy.

You're right, and also it's also better to buy from a local dealer as you get more specialized services (free car wash, etc)... though I don't think it's a deal breaker to go elsewhere. Still, I would rather it be local so I may just bite the bullet.

Also, if the 2020 come with touch screen, that might just sway me to go new.
