I think you just pick the ones you want to see and then post your list.
Doro will add you to the line up, when your time comes whoever has the cables pays to send them to you.
You play with them for a week or three and send them to the next person on the list.
You only pay for the shipping to the next person.

Then you post a review of what you thought of the cables.
Simple and easy all at the same time.

Noel I'm done with the Nordost Solar Winds and I don't see anyone on the list after me. If it's OK with Doro and these are ones you want to try I can send them to you. This will get you going right away. If not....then Doro where do I send these now that I'm done and no one is on the list after me?

That's fine with me, just want to clear it for either one of you through Doro first so he know's what's going on and can keep tabs on this stuff.

Sounds good to me Brock. Is that cool with everyone else??

The main reason that I want to get involved in this is because of what happened last night. I was setting up the ASL AV20 monoblock amps I picked up from Mark at PFest and had an extremely audible hum coming thru the speaks. I tried different tube combos, checked and double checked all connections, biased the amps, etc, etc. Well I decided to start swapping ICs around and discovered that my 1.5m Copperheads were the culprit. They were outclassed by a freakin 1m pair of Radio Shack "Fusions", yes the real ones, not the gold series. Now that was a $30-35 IC besting a $100 IC. Now I would have to think that it was just my particular cabes, because my other set of Copperheads have been fine. The weird thing is that I was using those ICs, before I rearranged, with no issues. Maybe they were just not suited for tube pre to tube amp usage  . Anyways, I'm going to be trying my 1m pair of Cobalt Ulimates there tonight to see how they do in that capacity. I really need to find some .5m ICs so I will have a little better cable management system.

    Noel,
I'll send them out to you on Monday. You previously sent me an addy should I send them there?

    Tryrrthg,
Just remind Noel that when he's done with them you are next in line. Hopefully Doro will eventually update the list.

I'll be posting my impressions of the Solar Winds shortly.

    Have fun :)

i had two pairs of the copperheads that went bad and based on my bad experience that manufacturer will never get any of my hard earned dollars again! they started humming and at first i thought that my amp or preamp was starting to let go and i flipped out. when i found out it was the copperheads i was ready to kill something. i have heard too many instances of copperheads going bad to believe that mine was an isolated incident.both of my pairs went bad with solid state equipment.the copperheads are just bad news in general!

I will create the thread for you, as it's unfair to your demo, and you may post your thoughts therein. I cannot express enough thanks for your taking the time to perform the demo.

Thanks for all the time and effort you have put into this program. It has been extremely helpful to me and A LOT OF FUN! I'm sure others feel the same. Maybe it has run it's course or whatever. It WAS worth the effort!

I appreciate all the participation that the Cable Swap incurred, but it has come time for me to shut it down.

It is for personal reasons that I am performing this action. I apologize for the inconvenience, but at least some of you were able to experience new things.

ALL of the cables that were "donated" will be returned to the original owner, the rest will be returned to me, at my expense. Please contact me for further information.

    dorokusai@comcast.net

This program WAS a success, good and bad, and I wish it could have kept going.

Rock on Polk Forum! See you later! It's been a great ride!

I remember when you guys first started talking about getting this program started back in Nov. Dec. of 03' and it looks like it did really well.

Guys! I see no reason this program can't continue on a lesser scale. Mark obviously put much time and effort into this. Membership has grown and so has the list of cable to demo. It had to get overwhelming and I even would venture to say that Mark may even be out some money by the time all cables reach their original source. I would even bet that there were some "Hey, where are my cables?" type of emails. He did an awesome job and gave members an opportunity that can't be denied.

Maybe if you want to demo, or offer a cable for demo, it could be handled without the mediator.

I'm game. I have one or two cables I could lend to the program. They aren't thousand dollar cables, but they're not Wal-Mart cables, either.

We would have to have some sort of central figure to keep things from becoming a cluster fu^k.

I can't be that central figure and wouldn't wish it upon anybody.

I suggest that if anybody has cables to offer, they put it in their sig. Other members could contact them and that person could decide accordingly. It could be handled via PM/email between the individuals. Reviews could still be posted and such. If anything goes awry it would be between those 2 people.
