At this point, I would love to see the colts go all the way, they've got Luck on their side after all. Has any team gone from 2-14 to Super Bowl champion the following year with a rookie QB at the helm? Andrew Luck seems like a great kid both on and off the field. If anybody can take that feat off the table, it woul be nice if he was the one to do it.The Gear... I am glad they made the playoffs, and that they lost this game because everyone from the ownership and coaching staff, all the way on down to the beer guy can see what they need to do in the off-season. They need a quarterback, possibly two, and some guys that can stretch the field and catch a ball or two. They were lucky they didn't finish the season with a 6-10 record.
Yeah, they sucked BAD! Could do absolutely nothing after the first drive of the game, and with that one ending in a field goal I could feel that we might be in trouble already. You just don't stand a chance when you settle for FGs when Rodgers and four receivers, all of which would be the number 1 on the Vikings, are on the other team. Also, the two Packer drives that were stopped and looking like FGs at best, but extended and became TDs after Vikings penalties (Williams offsides and 12 men on the field when GB was attempting a FG) were crushing for the Vikings.
Sadly, the Vikings' late season successes may keep them from making changes that need to be made. Ponder's play in the last couple of games may have them thinking he's worth sticking with. And Joe Webb may be "a great athlete", but if nobody with the organization knows how to put him to good use for the team, it might be time to try to get something for him. He had absolutely NO touch to his passes against GB - that is, until it was garbage time, then he was laying them right on target!?!?! I really think Sage Rosenfels was the best of the QBs that they had this year.
Imagine though, if the Vikings had one field-stretching WR, Percy Harvin was healthy and they had someone even close to Rodgers in QB ability.
While we're at it, we better start grooming a replacement for Winfield too. And get someone with some discipline to replace Loadholt. And get rid of John Carlson. Hmmmm....maybe a new OC too.... -
Agreed, possibly the worst game I've seen all season. Webb is no QB, running back....maybe, but certainly no QB. Their coach in pre-game talks had a smug smile on his face like he was using some secret weapon against GB. Really....for what these guys get paid you can't get a better backup QB or at least work with the guy. His performance looked like he didn't throw a ball since High school. He has absolutely no touch, I felt angry and sad for Webb.HT SYSTEM-

That was too bad for the Vikes. The Bengals offense looked like crap too! I really thought they would represent better.

I was actually nervouse early on when Webb had a couple scrambles, but the first ball I saw him throw made me feel better. GB at San Fran next week will be a good game.

Did we watch the same game ? Seahawks were not that impressive. Washington was that bad, not prepared enough, and lack some tools in the talent department. Along with starting an injured QB.....with a bad knee....who likes to run.....what was anyone expecting ? To the Seahawks credit, they adjusted after that first quarter, and Washington in the second half looked like they had no gas in the tank. Given that for 3 quarters of the game, the Seahawks couldn't roll over Washington tells me their in for a good old fashioned **** woopin' in Atlanta. 2 different levels of play between those 2 teams if you ask me.HT SYSTEM-

O-line was dominant. That being said, I'm thinking if the teams traded QB's, OU would win. Manziel was that good.
I told my wife just before halftime that it was over. I felt like OU outplayed A&M in the first half...only to be losing. Didn't expect the dominance in the 2nd half though. It was impressive.
Interesting. I disagree that OU had a better first half. They drove the ball well, but choked when they needed it most. I was looking forward to the Bell-dozer coming out. A&M had been playing running backs like him (yes, I know he's QB) all year. I thought they'd have a plan for him and the practice from playing other teams would be a favorable match up for A&M. Hell, OU got lucky they got a penalty for illegal formation, or else the score would've been 41-10. Everyone says how it was a terrible play to call to have him pass the ball, I completely disagree. Their line was getting dominated in the red zone and obviously A&M had his number. They needed to do something different. It irks me to no end when people scream 'terrible call', when if it had been successful, it would be hailed as a great call. He is a quarter back after all.

All I can say is go Niners! ... The seachickens got lucky they played an injured QB and were able to advance to play the falcons.

I would say OU had a slight advantage in the first have from the standpoint that they did exactly what they wanted to do offensively...stay on the field. The obvious problem was that they had to settle for field goals, which turned the tide toward A&M. Based on what happened in the 2nd half, it wasn't going to matter anyway.
I think OU and K St. had very similar showings in their bowl games. Execute the gameplan you want in the first half, but settle for field goals...that's a recipe for a loss, especially against teams like A&M and Oregon.
Agree on the "hindsight coaches." It's real easy to secong guess someone once the play is unsuccessful. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team for making the play.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -

FYI: It's the Seaturkeys not the seachickens.
Don't worry the Seaturkeys will do what there good at and most likely fall apart in the forth when there up by 42 and lose next weekend.
As far as yesterday game.

You could say the same for A&M though. They did what they wanted to offensively. Start off with a crazy tempo, don't give them time for their defense to change anything on the fly, and shove it down their throats. Proof is in the pudding when OU called their first time out not even 2 minutes into the game.

Got to admit the Seahawks got a great defense, especially those two Earl Thomas and Brandon Browner. It was hilarious watching Pierre Garcon trying to fight Browner off all day long. Of course it didn't work out for Garcon because that CB is 6-4 / over 220lbs. That dude can cover any WR!exalted512 wrote: »You could say the same for A&M though. What Johnnie Heisman did to the Sooners surprised me totally. I thought such a high-caliber contender would find a way to slow him down after having a month or so to prepare. Coach Sumlin has been a tremendous force!Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:

Not really able to explain what I mean very well I guess. While the stats were close, I think if you saw the halftime stats without knowing the teams, you would pick that OU was winning based on stats. Double time of possession, almost double first downs, no punts, 5 fewer penalties, and 9 less total yards. You just knew OU couldn't maintain some of those stats for the whole game and yet they were still losing.
I'm not at all trying to take anything away from A&M and I'm not trying to say the outcome would have been different. Just that the feel/momentum of the game would have been different going into the half and I wouldn't have felt like the game was already over. While who played the better first half is debatable (and useless), A&M totally dominated the 2nd half and left no doubt who is the better team.
They should be a top 5 team when the ranking are released tomorrow. Every other team better be glad there's not a playoff this year.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
Well that didn't take long :-)
Couldn't have been a worse start for Notre Dame -
Well, two iffy calls for Alabama, guess we know who the refs want to win...
Not that it matters anyway, ND is not holding up well against that running game... -
BS call on the "fair catch". Signal was WAY late and his own dude ran into him causing the fumble. The expert Ref on the broadcast just covering for his guys."I did not slap you. I high-fived your face."
-
You got to give the guy room to catch the ball.
-
That wasn't what caused the fumble, and the late fair catch call preceded it."I did not slap you. I high-fived your face."
-
Yeah and that call on the catch was bad as well. Ultimately though neither of those is going to determine the outcome of this game.
This game is not even competitive, it's like watching my old bad high school football team play the Patriots. This is a prime example of why the playoff system can't come soon enough for college. I was hoping to see ND take down Alabama, but unless they've been playing possum the first quarter it looks like Nick 'the snake' Saban will get his 4th title.
