When I was young I remember my father smoking Bel-Air's and mom smoking Raleigh's. They saved the coupons off the packs and cartons. Both were very light smokers, both quit cold turkey in '63 or '64 when the surgeon general said smoking tobacco causes cancer. Thankfully neither of them ever had any lung issues.

I had a savings and loan company deposit book just like that, came in a clear plastic sleeve.

S&H and Gold Bond Stamps too.

The owner of a business I once worked at bought a brand new K car. He said take it for a drive, so I did. I told him it wouldn't last long. In less than a year he got rid of it. A true POS.

Is that a turkey or an emu? A caudally-challenged turkey we've been seeing lately.

    52988899386_6f7a58858a_b.jpg

Fortunately, her tail does appear to be growing back.

Mrs. H also reports having seen her on the wing, so she can fly -- no photos, though, sorry. ;)

I saw one of those on I-5 near Portland last weekend. It was the convertible in pale green. I surprised my wife and son that I ID’d it from a couple hundred yards back.

Apparently, a momma bear's got nothin' on a momma deer when it comes to protecting the kid(s).

Freaking Wild Kingdom right out in the backyard at lunch time. :)
