Went to the Mission drag races today. They did all the qualifying yesterday and today was the finals. They had everything from funny cars to alchol drag cars running 5.5 seconds at ~270 mph .
I was a little dissapointed I wasn't able to get a pass so that I could be one of the photographers allowed between the fence and the concrete wall, but maybe next time. Would have been a lot easier to get a nice shot if I could have gotten up against that wall. I quickly found out it was difficult to catch a five second car half way down the track while it's going so damn fast. All shots were done with a nikon d50 and I believe all these were done with a tamron 70-300 f4/5.6 lens. I had the kit 28-50 lens with me but didn't use it a whole lot because I couldn't get close enough. I ended up taking around 200 pics... the move to digital is a sweet one
I think the bike shot is my favorite but still needs a little photoshop work.

sponsered by "Sibley's Car Company", huh ?
Yes, I'd say that was a nice shot.
That HemiCuda <sigh> with the front end lift has a little bit of chassis torque going on there. Nice, too.
The young kid behind the "Hiller's" sign doesn't seem too impressed, though. Seems like he's nodding off.Sal Palooza -

I'd put the cd's so the bindings are facing the ceiling, unless you typically search by squatting on the floor........just an idea.comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

They're not really angled down all that much so it's still fairly easy to read them. I've tried the other way but found that some got covered up and couldn't be read.
I had to put some 1/4" mdf (possibly 1/8"?) on the bottoms of the shelves so that the cd's wouldn't fall through. Seems to work pretty well though -
I'd always be hungry for a candy bar.

That's pretty random. Must be pretty hard to draw with your feet... can't say I've ever tried though.
