Man the masses online are not happy with Polks AE choices.

I am not sure what people want Polk to do?

Make a special edition of the L800? Make a hail mary limited released Monitor 10 from the 1970s?

Based on the performance of the R200 that I heard at 2021 Polkfest... coupled with real wood veneer, an engraved plate on the back, gold posts and upgraded crossovers and at a price point that is overall accessible to the average person... I think it ticks off all of the boxes that has made Polk who they are over the last 50 years.

If they used all air core inductors I will be very impressed... eager to pop the hood so to speak when they arrive!

If this report is accurate then why wouldnt Polk announce this sort of info at release? Its not aimed at the mass market. Only true Polkies would be interested in a AE model and they would want to know whats inside.

Good question, we may never know. If they seriously went all air cores, etc - they should have included a photo of the network

The surface is an intermediate polyurethane coating with a piano finish

Told ya it wasn't an oil finish.

To clarify, that's the AE crossover on the right and the original R200 crossover on the left. Only half indicated in this photo, but noted in caption on the link @Braddles63 posted.

Really curious to hear what you think after you get them, Trey.

I thought the original R200 seemed a little cool sounding compared to the L200. Makes me wonder how this AE build sounds and compares.

They invested a good sum of cash in those crossovers. Air core inductors are not that cheap especially that size. I'm very surprised and impressed.

    Very excited!

Frankly I'm surprised they could bring those in at the price they're charging on a limited production run.

That is a sweet looking XO!
Just think if they made use of better resistors 😊

Well at least they are the cheapest parts to replace.

Would be cool if one of the Polk engineers popped into the forum and said what the internal and external changes improved on this edition. They were certainly working from a solid base for a speaker already.
