Swapped out my Signal cable XLR's for Kimber Hero XLR's between the DAC and amplifier. The Hero just does a better job flushing out midrange, and the bass control appears more accurate and articulate. I was pretty amazed with the differences, as my hearing hasn't been great for the last couple years.

You can actually see in the stereophile response graph almost exactly what I experience in my room

I hooked-up a frequency tone generator today, and actually could hear it down to 30Hz. I guess one of bass test songs yesterday was going even lower, which I could not hear. It was a Basstronics song.

Jody, if you are referring to "Bass I love You", there is are "sub-bass" tones at 36hz, 34hz, 33hz, 31hz, 17hz, and 7hz. On my sealed 18s, you can almost count the cycles of the 7hz tone it moves so much/so slow.

Yep, that's the one B) I wanted to hear those (practically) subsonic tones, but the floor-standers were not cutting the mustard. I could see my woofers shaking violently, but no actual sound was detectable.

A couple other songs I was testing were:
    - Flight of the Cosmic Hippo, by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
    - Limit To Your Love, by James Blake (the bass in this song kicks in around the 60 sec mark with an electronic effect, but eventually turns more...um...musical; there are a few odd pauses in this song, so don't let that throw you)

What song? Bass I Love You or the Techmaster? I used to bump that techmaster intro in high school on some Boston Pro 10s, then to some ridiculously insane SoundStream SPL 12s. (When SoundStream was SoundStream) They just worked in my car. Ran them on a JBL GTQ400 amp.

Image taken from google. But same subs.

I was broke as a joke in HS. But after I got out and became an recreation entrepreneur, I bought two JL 15’s and a 1000watt amp. Had a 94 Ford Explorer and Got pulled over ALOT. Fun times.

I never got to upgrade to the SS Reference subs. I wanted to. I spent a good amount on some MB Quart mids and highs. My soundstream subs were in a sealed box in the back of a 95 Hyundia Accet hatch. Crazy SPL.

My hatchback journey started with a '84 Pontiac T1000 with a Kenwood deck & JBL Control 1 monitors

Next I moved to an Alpine deck/CD Changer, PPI Amp, Audio Control EQX, Boston Pro components & Sub in a '86 Ford Escort GT,

Then, there was the '90 VW Corrado With Alpine, Blaupunkt, MB Quart,

and last a '96 BMW 318Ti Sport with Pioneer Premier DEX-P1R deck, Focal Expert 3-way MTX Terminator amps, Audio Control crossovers, Alumapro Alchemy Sub

There was so much more gear I had throughout those years and beyond by the time I started driving sedans. Serious car audio gear like Pioneer Premier DEX-P9 combo, Clarion DRZ9255, Genesis Audio amp, Phoenix Gold amps, later released Soundstream Reference amps, Dynaudio drivers, Scan Speak Illuminator tweeters,Pioneer Premier PRS 3-way, Acoustic Elegance 15" sub, Image Dynamics IDQ15 sub, JBL W12GTi, etc, etc. I've had waay more car audio gear over the years then home audio stuff.

Still, I hate that I never did a system with the old school Soundstream Ref components, subs, and amps. I've listened to some really nice sounding systems running Soundstream over the years.
