I've used that song to evaluate speakers myself. ;)B)

I really like binging on YouTube videos too. I've made quite a few bookmarks that I hope to listen to again. This is a good one to add to the list.

One of the comments below was:
"It's no wonder why so many modern day bands struggle. The bar was just set so high..."

    The next comment was:
"And this song is 45 years old. And why are we still listening? Because it's a masterpiece!"

Was listening to Zep on You Tube when I got up doing, “In My Time of Dying” live. Page is playing on a cheap Danelectro guitar with a slide. It’s a masterpiece of playing.

Unexpectedly, the 10 yr anniversary faceplate was sent. I’m not crazy about it but it doesn’t bother me either. Unique for sure, and it’s growing on me!

As an added bonus, I was anticipating the standard RCA connections but they included balanced as well, which come with two additional dedicated tubes

    . . . to your question, Sir

GlennDog, hope the audition goes well. I wasn't aware of the faceplate changes.

I have a Mullard 4003 (12AU7) in the output of mine, sweetest tube I've tried so far.

I became a Lampi DAC fan back at Axpona a number of years back. It seemed like almost every high end set-up had one. I’d love to compare one of their DAC’s to my Bricasti one day.

    Congrats! And Enjoy! B)

I was hearing a very slight bass bump, using around the A-D on the bass (appr. 55-75 hz). I have my ML Grotto crossed over very low, either 42.5 or 40 (can't see without pulling it out of the cabinet) so I just reached around and turned it down one click (2.5 hz). MUCH better. That allowed me to raise the volume ever so slightly getting a slightly fuller foundation while getting better integration at the same time.

I’ve popped the hood a couple of times, to look elsewhere … I’ll take a closer look next time. The green oval markup will help/hopefully satisfy your curiosity

It is cool, but she runs hot. (Maybe it’s just late August summer with less than ideal airflow). When I pop her top next time, I might leave it off permanently

    Please note the tube A-Lish-a-nous

The lower level units are pretty straightforward
but as you climb up the food chain, it becomes a cornucopia of tube possibilities.

I’m not familiar with the Mullard 4003 variant, but it’s equivalent to the 12AU7

My Amber 3 came with a 5962 tube in the Output Stage, it's also another variant of the 12AU7/ECC82 family.

The Mullard CV4003 is a drop in replacement for the 12AU7/ECC82 also. It was made for the Military, rugged construction and a very long life.

Can be a little dark in some applications, but it is a good fit for the Amber, as its presentation is a tad bit forward, in my set up that is.

Got the Cardas Litz 15.5 ga tweeter wires installed in my 7B's. Did the right speaker on Sun and the left one on Mon. The difference was astounding! I mean in less than a second immediately discernible that the cymbals had extra detail, more shimmer, less smearing and it was an unbelievable wow moment that those 24" wires could make that much a difference. I guess I shouldn't be surprised but I still am. And there are knuckleheads refuting this by making measurements with electronics instead of just listening?

It was interesting that when I had only done the right speaker, I was almost thinking....hmm.....are my speakers too bright now? But paradoxically that feeling was entirely gone when both speakers were done yesterday. I stayed up way past my beddyby time listening and I'm sure the neighbors could hear through the walls lol.

I'm not sure if it shows in the picture but the large inductor had worried? a hole in it's solder joint probably from being stressed during modifications so I reflowed the solder joint so that's something to watch out for. Maybe other people just desolder it which may have been the wisest move. Anyway, bass sounded vastly superior after that and I thought it couldn't get any better. I don't think I will wait too long to do the fuseholder and binding post wires and Cardas Binding Posts :)

I just did a temporary swap of the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2* with a (relatively) nearby hifi colleague for a pair of GR Research Paradox 1 two ways. Just hooked up the latter. Listening to NPR (mono program material) so I can't say much about 'em yet except that they work :)

They look -- purposeful (and I do mean that as a compliment).

so -- a fellow I know wanted to try the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 loudspeakers. No problemo; I gots a pair of those. We arranged to meet someplace mutually (in)convenient ;) for me to pass them to him for a couple of weeks. He felt compelled, I guess, to a little quid pro quo, so he brought me a set of his speakers to play with in the interim.

    Listenin' to 'em now :)

Y'all may -- or may not -- recognize 'em.
They have been slightly modified from their standard implementation (they're kits, or quasi-kits, at least).
