I have these infinity RSB cabs and am thinking of 6 dome mids and 3 tweets each. The low end would be some 12 inch infinity woofers.

Are those mid and tweeter counts what were in them from Infinity originally?
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Sorry. They are RS1 not rsb.

No, I think it was 7 ribbon mids and 3 emit tweeters in each. Actuall I think the EMITs were on front and rear so 6 each possibly.

I cant afford the original parts much less has the experience to build the crossovers for them either.

There are some affordable dome mids on PE, so I may experiment a little.

Hey Ivan. A little, but gotta get back into it. I'm looking for a set of bogey tubes to validate my tester does not need re-calibration.

Got my Music Hall A70.2 integrated amp set up this afternoon and removed my B&K Reference 4420.

The Music Hall to me and my wife has a cleaner sound overall. The sound stage seems a wider also and some of the background sounds were more apparent than before. We both heard more detail in the music. I got my replacement tweeters in late this afternoon and haven't replaced them yet, so I'm expecting it to sound even better when I replace those. I also tried out the built in turntable preamp which seemed to sound a little better than the Parasound Zphono USB Phono Preamp I got in December.

The amp also seems to have plenty of power which was something I was a little worried about going from 225 watts to 125 watts.

Being fairly new to this hobby I don't know what all of the terms mean as far as describing how a system sounds so excuse the poor review.

Overall I'm pleased with my purchase, thanks Keith.

My wife asked me why I needed another amp and I said it would allow me to have less equipment sitting out on the top of the audio cabinet which she hates. Well after she gave me the look after that comment, she knew I was selling her on the idea. I turned my system on and played a few of her favorite songs. I saw her smile a little bit. I asked her if it sounded better to her and she said yes it does and she didn't say a word about getting another amp the rest of the day. We did listen to music the rest of the day.

Well I thought I lost the first post above, that's why there's two. Polk needs to really fix this forum. It wasn't there when I posted the thread above this one.

Yeah, that's weird. Yesterday when you posted, there was one of those little yellow "1 new" indicators next to this thread title on the "Recent Discussions" page, plus your name and avatar in the "Most Recent" column.

When I opened the thread, your post wasn't there. I clicked on the Notifications widget thingy in the upper-right corner under my username and then clicked on the notification for your comment and I got the "This Comment Is Not Available" message (or something similar).

Great job cleaning that NAD! Love my C165.

Based on the always helpful Raife Smith's advice, I just installed (one at a time) a TeraDak linear power supply and split leg USB, to power my DAC and connect it to the computer. Both improved SQ: lower noise, so tighter and more articulate bass, and clarity in vocals.

After a proper cleaning, here is a NAD 1155 pre-amp I am testing.

In good company here, it is a very nice-sounding SS pre-amp. Next step is to evaluate the phonostage.

This NAD 1155 came from my dad's 'collection', and this particular unit was (amongst others) in a semi-outside state of storage. He had a carport that was covered, but still exposed to the elements on the southern-side. It is my first NAD unit to evaluate, and so far I really like its simplicity and sound.

Love that era of NAD. The Power envelope was something to behold back then IMO.

Today there was suddenly a hum in the phonostage of the NAD1155. After doing some trial-and-error with different phono cables AND coercing the plugs a bit, I narrowed down the problem to the Phono inputs. Continuity in the inputs has been compromised, so this bit has to go.
    bnctse4kuvi2.jpg
After some testing with a DMM, it seems that the (+) signal inputs are a bit flakey when put under sideways pressure. Those are the wider bands coming directly from the 'Phono' and 'J101' solder points in the pic. I think the actual weakness is inside the black plastic piece, but I'll be replacing that entire part with new RCA jacks and direct wire. Wish me luck!

I moved my subs that I'll hopefully use in a home theater set-up. I'm installing ceiling boards in the back room and have to move a scaffold all around to do it.
Here are those subs. I've shown them on here before but that was 2 years ago I think. I also have 15" JBL's and 12" JBL's that go with them. I bought a Church's system right before a Hurricane hit. I had 2 hrs. to go a couple of miles, load them, and get back and unload them and then cover them well. It was a bargain I couldn't let slip through my blessed hands! :D
