What did you do to your stereo rig today?

@daddyjt, I like the looks of your work. Looking forward to your new pictures.
I have always liked the "old" Standesign audio stands with the cascading shelves. If you are going to do something STUPID, do it FAST so it doesn't affect someone else. -
The ref 30 had an upgrade option that made it a ref 31. It's upgraded if you see an oval "Upgraded" sticker next to the volume knob and a blue screen instead of the factory green screen. It added several internal upgrades basically making it a ref 50 (see photo).
-
Love the stand and paint you chose!
I agree, nice work.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
@daddyjt: please grab one or more wide angle shots of the frame before placing shelves.
I think you built something very similar to what I have but you got to decide* the distance between the shelves*. That said I’d like to copy and mod (slightly) 😊

SDA-SRS’s still don’t have the crossovers in them, because I’m too chicken to solder them. So, I did this a couple of weeks ago and finally sat down to listen. It’s been almost 20years since I’ve had Maggies.

just put together my Monolith Audio stand. Tomorrow, I'll tear all of this down and transfer my equipment to the new stand. I'll do some cable management then.

Yesterday I hooked up a micro Mcintosh-Polk set up for the kitchen. I've had the speakers for several years now and I finally found a way to use them.

Thanks; Yes I like the sound of the M2's the only problem is their odd shape and those confounded mounting brackets. Being that I had the time I fashioned up some kickstands in the back to keep them upright. So far so good and they're not wobbly at all. -
Still re-arranging and liking what I'm doing. Still have a long way to go though.
Man those little KEF Coda 90's are impressing me the more I play them.

Did some work on the shop rig. Got rid of the $20 Monoprice DAC and bought a 20ft toslink cable to go from the TV to Yamaha receiver's DAC. Much cleaner install, and I'm sure the Yammie DAC will be better. It certainly has more GAIN. I didn't realize the Yamaha had an on-board DAC until the other day. (HTR 5540). I know some guys can't stand clutter.
It will creep up on you as that show HOARDERS shows. Traumatic events changes people. My neck pain changed me.
Here's the front room before the pain became unbearable. I spent many days laying on that couch praying for relief. And I always got it, for a while.
A GREAT member on this forum, maybe it was @audioluver, who offered to drive hundreds of miles just to help me downsize and purge. FOR FREE.The member just wanted to help another guy out. I think the member was retired though.
Yes @treitz3 and others, I am happy.
My neck is 95% better and I'm continually ticking things off of my long to-do list FINNALLY, after about 14 years since I gave up my OCD. These past 3 years have been me climbing back up to be almost the man I was.
I was listening to Bob Seager yesterday. His Best-CD. Those KEFs were sounding great and the song "like a rock" came up. That song hit home! How time flies!
I have a nice big umbrella that can shed off most insulting innuendos. I used to be a perfectionist and hated dust. Vacuumed all the time too. Then my neck got bad and I found that rest was more important.
I've heard the proverbial "there's too much junk" in my room since I joined. And I understand 100% if the image/s make others cringe. I was down for about 10 years and that's when it got bad. I've told the story a couple of times HOW I got so much. It was buying audio stuff to help ease the suffering I was going through. Also, the prices I paid for the STUFF was always a bargain. The hoarders most repeated words, "they were bargains I couldn't pass up".
Now saving the old food boxes and old newspapers is at a level I don't think I could ever get to. I still hate spiders and roaches!!!
I don't think I'll be a one stereo guy ever again. I like the sound of too many speakers. Take my new to me repaired KEFs. Bought them for 50.00. Held on to them for years. Then a week ago, while re-organizing and condensing speakers to get ready to sell again ( my neck is doing great again, so I can easily meat people again ) I got to back of the room and pulled the KEFs out to repair those crinkled tweeters, if the replacements weren't going to cost too much. I found tweeters at Parts Express for 20 each. The reviews were pretty good. Now they're fixed, I've enjoyed them this past week, and they are a set I might...sell. But they sound sooo good to me right now. They ARE small...LOL, maybe keepers. LOL
I have a ton to sell! And I'll keep many gems because they are super special.
I used to be a one system guy because that's all I could afford. But then I found that set of Polk Monitor 10's at Goodwill and my pay grade had been increasing for years, the house got paid off and I then had SPARE $$ for STUFF.
I have 2 nibbles right now on 4 beautiful MCS towers I have placed on a few more local sites last night. I'd love to sell them OR donate or even give them away. Space is a commodity to me.
I'm going to sell some older collected speakers and stuff for what I paid pretty much now. It sure is a bad time to be selling though!
I just got 2 more nibbles since I was typing the above. That's 4 guys interested.

One of my life's regret was selling them. Needed money so to speak at that time.
I think they were 2.8R's.
The fellow actually called me back a few years later and asked if I wanted to buy them back. He said for less than he paid of course. I wanted to soooo bad but I think I had just bought the Triton Ones and didn't have any spare hundreds lying around anymore.
I LOVED those things! True ribbon tweeters.

Well said man - well said. We all enjoy the hobby in our own way, and no one single way is “right” - it may be right for you, but that’s all it means - it’s right for you. I’ve heard many “high-end” ultra expensive systems that quite frankly put my feet to sleep.
Great sound is where you find it - and once you do, enjoy it!

I got my Marantz CD 6006 today! My initial impressions are wow! What a difference! Been listening to various CDs today started out with dire straits. I had a really good soundstage with my SDA 1-b’s, but it made it even wider it really brings out the individual instruments really well. Really adds a lot of depth to the music. And then switch to a remastered copy of Jeff Beck‘s blow by blow. Jeez that was even better! It really brings out a lot of hidden percussion, sounds you name it! The drums on that CD are incredible they really came to life with the Marantz. I listen to Apple Music on my phone and it leaves a lot to be desired if you know what I mean. The Marantz has a USB plug on the front of the unit I hooked my phone up to that and played some fav tracks. It added so much warmth and depth I was really surprised! Still some of the recordings leave a lot to be desired but they still had improved clarity and soundstage. Right now I’m listening to an old CD Elton John’s yellow brick road it’s not remastered or anything but it really brings it to life! This is a great player For Anyone that just listens to CDs I’m very happy! It’s gonna be a great weekend! -

Tony, I used to have that exact couch in your photo above only black but had to sell it when I moved from Madison. Loved that couch. Bought it new during a past recession at an unbelievable price.

It is very comfortable indeed.
It sits a little low but I can lay on it and fall asleep easily.
I traded a new in the box Sony DVD & VHS player for it. The player could record VHS to DVD. It was a "safe driver gift" from one of those little fliers you can pick from. It's value at the time was 180.00 at Best Buy.
So...I really got my couch for free. One of the best trades I've ever made!

Very nice frame work and the finish on the mdf is great!. How did you get it so smooth?
It’s a “Stone Coat” epoxy finish - I did 3 coats to get max shine, depth and durability. I will post the fully assembled frame photos today - got sidetracked the past few days with an extended family death and funeral (Funeral during the Wuhan Virus outbreak - that’s a story for another time).
