I hear ya man, we Italians have family issues every day. Hope nothing too serious. Family trumps everything, take care of business first, and get to it when ya get to it.

The best thing I can say right now is that since I put this preamp into my system I have been listening to the music and not the gear for the first time in a while.

I will write more about my thoughts on the Rhumba tonight after work.

That was my impression also. Being somewhat of an audio nerd, it definitely made you forget about picking it apart and simply let you enjoy the music. A notable characteristic of a good piece.

Was the $5K preamp comment about us?
Rhumba 1.1 - $2,995 ! (admittedly that is an introductory price but it will be maintained til the end of '16)
Also we hope that some of these great comments will be reflected in the "review" thread as well!

No....that was in reference to Toolfan's other thread on what to do with 5k. Which I think some gold plated toaster knobs might be cool. ;)

    It could go like this:
Gets from Washington state to Indiana by this Friday. Then it would leave Indiana for your neck of the woods on the next Friday, March 18. And maybe arrive at your doorstep on Tuesday March 22.

Or, there could be delays of up to a few days?

That's, perhaps, over the Easter weekend.

My daughter the violinist will be here that weekend, and she has a very good pair of ears!

    Looking forward to it!

Yeah, it's expensive..........worth it for a demo, but I was surprised as well. With insurance it was $64 for me to ship. It's getting crazy what they charge for shipping. The still have a huge fuel surcharge even though the cost of fuel has gone way down........just like the airlines.

$64...... I would have killed for that!!! With insurance and delivery by Friday UPS charged $205. For Tuesday delivery it would have been $135. I guess that's the price you pay to have your sack blown back as Tony would say.

At least I know indyhawg will have a nice weekend of listening coming up and that the package will not be bouncing around in a truck across the country.

I need to find someone with a business account with a carrier!

Whoa... that's expensive. We use Fed Ex but I know the prices are not very different. I am sorry to hear it was that much! We have to figure out how to reimburse you for part of that.

I unpacked it and set it up. Great packaging. I took pictures so I can remember how it all goes back together. LOL. Everything works as it should. So it survived UPS and the long trek from Colorado. Unit sounds great, very detailed. I did not want to get up out of my listening chair. I have a busy weekend with the Scouts, so I probably will not get a lot of listening done the next few days. But I am looking forward to spending some quality time over the next week with this preamp in my system.

Like you Tony, the first tune I listened to was from Dire Straits and Wow was my first thought. I will get a detailed review out next week.
