That's a heck of an offer from BL's man, to replace all the guts ? You won't find that too often in audio.

Good guys they are, all of them. Can't say enough good things about the company or people who run it and work behind the curtain. Anyone looking for a tubed pre needs to put this company on their radar if not at the top of their list.

I did not participate in the demo but I did followed this thread. I have to agree
that this company is first class.
The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

    Guys,
Thank you for your kind words. We just hope Brian is able to get back to the sound he experienced when he first demo'd the Rhumba.
We are wondering - anybody mind if we place some of these quotes from this demo on our website?

Least we can do, you guys at BL's have been stellar all thru-out the demo. Just letting us Demo your product is not a common practice among manufacturers. We certainly appreciate that, use whatever you like.

Picked up the Rhumba from FedEx today and all is right in my world again. It even had that brand spanking new electronics smell that is quite alluring.

Straight out of the box the sound coming from the unit after the tubes warmed up is very engaging and I have not stopped listening for a couple of hours now. The sound stage is definitely not as wide or deep as I remember, but I know it will open up as time goes on. I have kept notes on certain songs and will keep referring to these songs as the Rhumba racks up the hours to see how the sound develops.
This is very exciting for me as I have never owned such a nice unit that is brand new and I am looking forward to the burn in process.

Also, a HUGE THANKS to Andy, Bob and Gary at Backert!!!!! They are great people to deal with and have gone way out of their way to make me, a lucky customer, happy! You guys are the best.

Now, back to my happy place,

    Brian

Glad things worked out for you. Backert had to send it out for a level 5 decontamination after I got done with it...

I might agree with that. Ever since that TT and cart showed up he's been reciting strange verses and speaking in unknown tongues. I don't know wtf he's talking about anymore. :)

I remember when skip first had it, I thought he said the same thing but, as time went on and a few hours ( I am going to guess 200+) on the unit, it opened up. I say keep it on and running for a few weeks and take another listen.
