If it's OK I could grab it for a listen.
Thank you for being willing to pitch in - at this point we have "maxed out" on participation in this demo, unfortunately, but we appreciate the offer to help!

No worries. Wasn't trying to crash the party. Up and down 90 at least five days a week. I'm the cheapest shipping ya'll will find. Fairly safe, too. I only run the idiots who sit in the left lane doing 50 off the road. ;)

Hand off went to Brock today as per plan. Shed a tear as I said goodbye to the little booger. I think both of them gave me the finger as they drove off.
    :)

Brock and Andy can communicate further on time frames.

Could be Andy, at my age you start to see things. lol

Brock is one of the good eggs, even though I yank his chain time to time. Be interesting to hear his thoughts and comparison to his mini-max. We had a nice chat for about an hour over lunch, good to see him again.

No, not yet. But I sent it at the peak of the storm they got out there. Probably delayed a day or two

Actually we checked out the unit and it was fine from our standpoint, i.e. within spec as far as tube noise. But to further reduce it, we did implement a new thing-a-ma-jig that Bob Backert has developed in response to the feedback we have received here, for which we thank you. We will wait to hear Brock's thoughts as to its effectiveness. If anybody wants to hear my thoughts, you are welcome to message me but I will stay mum here.

When I had it originally I did install lower gain CBS JHY-5814's and it might have lowered the tube noise a smidge. Not a hugely noticeable change, so we shall see.

I didn't find the tube "hiss" to be objectionable from a listening enjoyment stand point. I couldn't hear it at idle from my listening position. But I suppose for the overall cost of the unit it might be a little irritating to hear that much hiss when I was close to the speakers. It wouldn't dissuade the purchase, however.

The EE Mini Max was much quieter, but then they are different types of units. The Dared SL2000 I had was in between the two units. A bit more hiss than the EE and less than the Rhumba, to give some perspective.

Ok, after tonight my time is done with the Rhumba. Who gets it next? I want to get this out tomorrow (Friday Feb 12th) as I won't be able to get to a Fed Ex drop until next Tuesday if I miss tomorrow's window.

I will be posting some more thoughts in the very near future in the review thread.

Well, it isn't Lent just yet bro, you still have time. Give the girlfriend a Benjamin and tell her to go buy something for 15 minutes while you write something up. Better yet, tell her to buy ME something. :)

Tony, you can ask as many times as you want. I'll get to it when I get to it. It'll either be later tonight or not until next week as I am gone on a long weekend. ;) I feel it's important to give a detailed review since BL took the time to let us demo this unit.

I know, but sometimes life gets in the way.....lol. I just want to be able to give it the proper review and that's going to take a little bit of uninterrupted time. It's basically a before and after type review so my notes are a bit more than usual.

But I promise I will be as timely as possible. :D
