......... which isn't really that bad of a punishment, come to think of it. All you have to do is just keep walking in one direction, and you're guaranteed to eventually come out of the corn. Hmmmm ..... going to have to come up with a better punishment ......
Was thinking about this as a punishment for Emoettes, but ..... well... it is kind of extreme.

I'm associating herpes with the infestation of Emoettes that come here to spout how their gear is awesome, and telling us to throw away our old **** Adcom and Carver amps. THAT'S the herpes.
In my perusals of the forum I have never seen posts (they could very well be out there, just saying I haven't seen it) from an Emotiva owner telling some one to throw out their gear.
I kind of see the point with the older Carver stuff... The Sunfire lineup is nice and the only thing that he has done that I would want to own.
With my setup I would be curious to see if there is a difference in a blind A/B between say the Emotiave UPA-2 and my Parasound HCA 1000A. -
I don't know that anyone ever said they make the best amps any more than anyone ever said that Polk makes the best speaker. I think that the issue has been blown out of proportion.
Some took offence that Emotiva used the word "Reference" in their advertising literature and then did a Monty Python type ridicule take on that. Fine, if that's what you like.
Then how come Signal Cable uses Reference in their advertising of their cables and they some how escape mass ridicule. I still haven't seen anyone posture an explanation (scientific) of what 'reference' is when it comes to audio equipment. -

Probably because they don't stuff it down our throats like Emotiva does. For pete's sake, one of their amplifiers has "Reference" engraved IN IT.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I have a question about the Protection LED on my new SWA500 amp. I just connected everything yesterday. I have it configured with the preout sub from the receiver and then speaker wire from the amp to my CSW155. The amp turns on when it receives a signal and nothing comes out of the sub and then the Protection LED lights up. I do not understand what is wrong and the manual has nothing for a troubleshooting page. Can someone help?

Learn your gear before you try telling people to throw it out.
I owned the M400. Yech... I just demo'd last week (guy was asking $200) a M-1.5t. meh. -

Sorry, the M400 turned me off. The Silver 7 looks great. Never heard it. I have heard the the TFM series (35/45) they were ok...
The Silver line up was always out of my price range. -

"Meh." That's about how i felt about the XPA-2 that came through here. For my budget, an $800 amp better leave me gasping, sweating, and drained of all seminal fluids.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Sure. Make a new thread, though.
This is an Emotiva **** fight, we don't REALLY want any good information in it. I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

You said you saw the point of the people who said to throw out the old carver amps. Whether you personally said it or not, it at least shows that you agree with them on some level. I arrived at this using rudimentary English language skills.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I should have said the those old Stereo cubes.... They weighed like 8 pounds and claimed 200watts a channel. Reminded me of car stereo amps stuffed in a black cube. NeXT computer anyone?
Sorry, didn't mean to bash all the Carver stuff with that. -

Then you haven't read the threads and/or realize your own statements. -

I'll have to whole heartedly disagree with you on some of that...but hey..its all good. -

I don't understand why this keeps coming up. I thought it has been established that "reference" means so many different things to different people that it is now nothing more than a worthless marketing tool.

Not that these were not, and still are great products, but were/are they reference?
I'm all for keeping the talk of Emo in perspective as being good for the $$ but no giant killer. But I don't think using the word "reference" means anything one way or another, to be of any value in the discussion (use this term loosely since it is more of a pi$$ing match) but some may still be trying to gain knowledge from it. -

I am not the one obsessed with anything, well actually that's not entirely true as i am "obsessed" with the truth. There is NOTHING to find because it DOES NOT exist! Reality check

You don't even know what you are talking about. You insult someone then don't even know it so how the hell are you going to make a statement like "it doesn't exist," and have people take you seriously? You're a prime example of what we are talking about here about Emoettes.

Ugh!!....I just responded with 3 paragraphs and it made me log in again...my write up no where to be found....
Summary....
I auditioned Carver 500M, Rotel RB-990BX, and XPA-2 over summer 2009. None of the amps "buried" the other one. Carver did sound a little different...not bad, not good..just different IMO. I kept the XPA-2, sold the Carver, still have the Rotel I'd like to unload.
With the handful of amps I've auditioned over the years I have yet to hear to amps with similiar specs "blow away" any other. IMO..as long as they have similiar specs and are functioning properly the differences are usually subtle at best. -

I've had similar problem recently. I wasn't forced to log in again. I had responded to two diifferent posts quoting both then nada, they both weren't displayed. Don't know if something is up or if maybe after proofreading I just didn't hit the <Post Reply> button. Either way it was a wasted effort. -

Yeah well it wasn't me! The guys is a troll and an overly sensitive Emoette and has brought nothing but disrepect and contraversy to the club. . . PERIOD!!!
I noticed you edited your post and thought better of posting, "Was that OK???."
