Don't worry, I'm fine..funny is just a nice way of saying that's pretty absurd and laughable, i.e., Emo and Krell, even Paarsound in the same sentence....I mean.

Hey look, Emotiva makes some nice 'entry' level amps but not Krells and not even Parasound..especially not the Halo series.

Here is the facts guys..... I purcased a Emo amp and cd player and I am quite happy with them. The shipping and packaging were second to none and the products perform as expected. worth the money in my opinion and I didn't have a set budget when I decided that is what I wanted. I would consider used amps from other manufactures also but this time I went new with Emotiva and have no regrets other than the product is heavy and large, but hey isn't any good amp big and heavy! If you want it get it you will be pleased
    My Setup:
    Front- Polk Monitor 70
    Center- Polk CS2
    Rear - Polk Monitor 70
    Subs - 2 Polk PSW505

    Amp - Emotiva XPA-5
    Zone 2 Speakers - Polk M40
    CD Player - Emotiva ERC-1
    Interconnects - Emo X-Series
    & Emo Ultra speaker cables
    additional components:

I don't really think 'anyone' here disagrees with you...Emotiva represents value on the New Market and lots of people are happy with them in their systems...

But if you crave a warmer, sweeter more nuanced two channel sound, or even a 100 percent neutral 'as is sound' and you have the money...I for one do not--but I've heard the BIG BOYS--you'll probably move up the food chain.

No one is really saying that Emos are bad...I think...at any point.

No doubt Emo stuff allows a lot of folk to taste the entry level of separated pre/amp. Emo is one step above some but not all mass market AVRs. For those who claim Emo is the answer to audio Nirvana that is dilusional to me.

Allright, You Emo people win. I am going to order a pre/ 2 channel amp by the end of this month. I will seriously give the Emo a fair and open mind. If it sounds as half decent as the Rotel or Para, I will become an Emo advocate for free. If it sounds like s**t or DOA on me, you Emo will have a bass **** public enemy.

How to turn that freaking LED off, Emo people?

please don't put me into the same group as all of them. I am very very far from being an Emoite. The stuff was alright but not what I was looking for in terms of sound. That and some people are nuts in their claims.
It works fine in HT but I use mine for HT and 2 channel and didn't care for the 2 channel sound.

I learned my lession with the stuff. Still got two amps I need to dump at some point, maybe I should put them up on the Agon as BEST REFERANCE AMPS EVER MADE as my headline...that'll get some offers in no time....

oh I know it sells, I've sold the two amps I did have of theirs in a matter of hours of posting. I have no problems with that. I'm just having a problem finding the mono blocks I want to use to replace the them. Saw some krells on there today that look AWESOME but a little over my budget right now.

Are the amps you talk about in the second quote the same ones you were talking about in the first quote? If not what do you have and what are you looking to get for them?
    And I gotta ask, isn't
"Saw some krells on there today that look AWESOME but a little over my budget right now"

kind of what so many have been saying about affordability? One in hand is better than two in the bush, so to speak.

I don't know that anyone ever said they make the best amps any more than anyone ever said that Polk makes the best speaker. I think that the issue has been blown out of proportion.
Some took offence that Emotiva used the word Reference in their advertising literate and then did a "Monty Python" take on that.
However at the present time, for the money spent both Polk Audio and Emotiva offer a nice combination of performance and value. They are for the middle of the road audio enthusiast like me.

You haven't been reading very long then or many of the Emo threads. There have been many outlandish claims by the Emoettes.

I believe the reason some get so carried away with their lust for Emo is that they come from a 300 buck avr and Emo may be their first amp. They are blown away by what an amp can do. As far as some comparing them to slayers of Krell, and the likes of other higher end brands, I have to call B.S.

Well then enjoy your listening and basketball game. If when you are done, you may find it educational to search through the Emo threads to find the outlandish claims and the overreactions posted by Emoettes who disagree with their point of view concerning their Emos. No one likes their baby called ugly but when a previous Emo owner i.e. one who has experienced an Emo says it wasn't for them or that it just plain sounded bad they have been attacked by the Emoettes.

Herpes is bad. Not so with Emotiva.
They are affordable and just work so well with Polk's so they are popular!
    Some blame those blue lights.

Whether or not they work, and the brand itself, isn't the problem. I'm not associating herpes with Emotiva as a company. I'm associating herpes with the infestation of Emoettes that come here to spout how their gear is awesome, and telling us to throw away our old **** Adcom and Carver amps. THAT'S the herpes.

"Saw some krells on there today that look AWESOME but a little over my budget right now"

kind of what so many have been saying about affordability? One in hand is better than two in the bush, so to speak.

well what I had originally to start out was 4 amps, 2 XPA-1s for mono blocks, XPA 3 and UPA 2 and was using them for HT in a 7.1 system. I was planning on getting a pre/pro but had trouble with finding one and being able to play with them as there aren't very many shops by me. So I bought a new AVR and decided to use the 5 channels on that to power the channels the amps were driving. I found that I didn't really notice a huge difference and preferred using the AVR. I kept the mono blocks, which I still have. I am the second owner. Original bought them in 2009 like july/aug. he paid full amount, I paid around 1800 and would be looking for around 1700 or so not including shipping. I'm just trying to find what I want to replace them with.

and so what if I said the krells were a little out of my budget right now, I'm fine with waiting to get what I really want, if I know it will sound great and perform just as well. I just don't find why I should settle for an OK sound when I can spend a little bit more and get a better sound that I will enjoy a lot more. I also want to make sure I'm looking at a lot of different brands and not get hung up on one as there are SEVERAL I've been trying to decide on.
