I beleive the term you seek can be found in an ACME unabridged dictionary, medical edition...Don't you think that the term "cockmonkeys" may be too flattering a description?!
Needilus Microdicktum- a person who's **** is so small that it can only be found with a scanning electron microscope. So small is this appendage that a common housefly or mosquito is hung like a horse by comparison. -
Don't you think that the term "cockmonkeys" may be too flattering a description?!
Not at all. A cockmonkey is someone who has no common sense, can't understand logic and generally is a narrow minded twit.
Essentially, Seafire is the equivalent of a monkey playing with it's ****, thus, he is a cockmonkey.
This is one of my favorite words as of late. It can be used to describe all sorts of things.
For instance, earlier today, the original battery in my dads truck went dead. We were trying to get it out to replace it, and the way it's built into the truck is really stupid. There's roughly an inch or so of room to work with while trying to get the bolts out of the battery terminals, which are side mounted. They could have been top-mounted, and eliminated the whole problem.
There's also a filler neck for the radiator fluid which conveniently sticks right over the top of where the battery needs to be pulled out, so it has to be removed to get the battery out. It could have been angled to the side instead of towards the back and eliminated the whole problem.
The battery compartment in my dads truck was designed by a cockmonkey.
Get it now?:p;)Damn Curt. I make up stories all the time and I don't think I'm boring.
Your stories are much different though Russ. They're entertaining, and not at all cockmonkeyish in any way.The nirvana inducer-

That's not clipping...it may be something else, but it's not "clipping". Clipping is where the amp doesn't have enough power to push the full amplitude of the called-for sine waveform, so the wave is chopped off and becomes more of a square wave. Very damaging indeed, but not "straight 120V".What happens is, I'm sure many of you know, when an amplifier is clipping, the signal is no longer being sculpted by the amp. It's not a sign wave with peaks and dips, it's straight 120V, from the wall outlet to the speaker. That's why clipping an amp blows speakers more easily than overpowering a speaker.

Thanks Bob....I don't under stand the price for speaker cables....some cost more then the equipment there hookup to....The price is insane. The Stereophile mags review these....of course there not going to say anything bad about them..they get paid to do this...then sit there and try to tell you....oh yes we hear this one gives you more highs, or this one is more clear.....BULL...
Sorry..it's a piece of wire...when you get to a certain point...thats about it.
I have a 12 gauge speaker cable, I will not say which kind. I went and spent $250 (on sale)...some supposed great cable......NO DAM DIFFERENCE.
No way you could tell the difference between the 2. Now OK...."MAYBE" if your playing some violin thing........MAYBE you could hear something different, but my guess would be NOT. If I changed cables on these "reviewers"...they would not have a clue............
OK, I play mostly rock and blues, but do throw in some classic music.
If Stravinsky, or Tchaikovsky..sound the same to me, over different cables..well I get the fact.....basically you have just been riiped off, because it's called "audiophile"....and no I'm not tone deaf...I've mixed CD's for people , run PA mixers...I know what good sound is.
It's like Boats...if it's marine..you pay a ton....same crap you can buy for cheap...Audiophile.....the price goes up.....
Most of this "sound" is precived..just because you spent..300 plus on a cable. -
High end cables and such are for High End equipment....period.
If I spend $1000 on spearkercables, then im stupid because I would have no benefit from it other than looking like a badass in front of my friends:DPolk Audio Surround Bar 360

As strange as it may seem, I am starting to like this thread. The way it morphs is simply amazing and, in a sense, a reason why it should not die. Tense moments, productive moments, troll moments and silly momements. It's got it all!

It's like guaging how far slime mold colony creeps across a damp concrete floor when one checks in from day to day. Today, I told the car salesman that the 6 spearker system sounded nice in a vehicle I was looking at. Russ, how does your legs look when they are not donning assless chaps? Curiosity is getting the better of me. -
Here you go Keiko! Just change "let it be" to "let it die" or use them both meaning let it go
Too bad the recording is so crappy
I sure can "live" with "live and let die" too, works well too and I always were a fan of both the Beatles and (Paul McCartney and...) the Wings. Beatles => Mccartney <= the Wings as both groups "lived and died" through McCartney's talent/ingeniosity
Sorry for trolling

In recent months, I've been more out the forums than in, devoting nearly every spare moment to vinyl. I've been expanding my collection, and more important, refining my turntables.
In the past 6 months, I have sold off six Thorens turntables, kept five Thorens turntables, and purchased one Thorens and one Linn. I've purchased 15 or 16 different cartridges and styli, both new and used. I've purchased and made several variations of silver and copper connection wires and experimented with several variations of Thorens, Grace and SME tonearms and arm-wands. I've accumulated several brands of platter mats and clamps.
During my treks around the Internet searching for various pieces/part, owner's manuals and information, I hope I've learned a bit. The best part of the journey is that I've been rewarded with the best "trust" in my ears that I've had in the past 30 years. I've experimented and listened so much that I can finally hear subtle differences, and actually categorize what those differences are.
I've read opinion after opinion, and some of the the most astute observations about sound that I've read came from a 20 year old article by John Atkinson in Sterophile Magazine . . .
http://www.stereophile.com/tonearms/395
Atkinson doesn't come right out and say it, but he is talking about synergy. The COMBINATION of pieces/parts, different pieces/parts, is what makes up the whole
After considering some of the venomous threads here where those on each side of the argument vehemently defend their positions, I came to understand both camps are right. Simply put, the addition of two or more Class A components does not guarantee Class A sound.
To those of you who have never sought or found a good synergistic combination, my condolences. To those who have, Bravo!VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S
