And yet you keep the thread alive giving new comers potential to get in the game still... Sorry, couldn't resist
You all remember the old Beatle song "Let it die"
That wasn't a Beatles song, and it wasn't called Let It Die...;)
Nooshin got it right.
Paul McCartney & Wings-Live and Let Die.
It was also the title song for the Bond movie, "Live and Let Die".The nirvana inducer-

Bump. Let's keep this thread alive!!!!!
It's like guaging how far slime mold colony creeps across a damp concrete floor when one checks in from day to day. Today, I told the car salesman that the 6 spearker system sounded nice in a vehicle I was looking at. He responded along the lines "Yes, if you buy this baby today, you can have sparklers on it during the 4th of July!"You got a purty mowth Lee.
Anybody...????
Think about it...

In recent months, I've been more out the forums than in, devoting nearly every spare moment to vinyl. I've been expanding my collection, and more important, refining my turntables.
In the past 6 months, I have sold off six Thorens turntables, kept five Thorens turntables, and purchased one Thorens and one Linn. I've purchased 15 or 16 different cartridges and styli, both new and used. I've purchased and made several variations of silver and copper connection wires and experimented with several variations of Thorens, Grace and SME tonearms and arm-wands. I've accumulated several brands of platter mats and clamps.
During my treks around the Internet searching for various pieces/part, owner's manuals and information, I hope I've learned a bit. The best part of the journey is that I've been rewarded with the best "trust" in my ears that I've had in the past 30 years. I've experimented and listened so much that I can finally hear subtle differences, and actually categorize what those differences are.
I've read opinion after opinion, and some of the the most astute observations about sound that I've read came from a 20 year old article by John Atkinson in Sterophile Magazine . . .
http://www.stereophile.com/tonearms/395
Atkinson doesn't come right out and say it, but he is talking about synergy. The COMBINATION of pieces/parts, different pieces/parts, is what makes up the whole
After considering some of the venomous threads here where those on each side of the argument vehemently defend their positions, I came to understand both camps are right. Simply put, the addition of two or more Class A components does not guarantee Class A sound.
To those of you who have never sought or found a good synergistic combination, my condolences. To those who have, Bravo!VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

i recently read that in car audio leaving unsoldered connections in your power wire to an amp can cause a total loss in maximum power of up to 30%, while soldering those connections will decrease the resistance and cut the total power loss to about 10%, assuming an average of 5 connections in the wire (battery terminal, 2 at the fuse, distribution block, amp). can anyone confirm whether there is truth to this in home audio as well?In-Car:

Wow, I tried reading this thread and let's just say I learned all I needed to know in the first few pages, lol. While there are people who don't believe in speaker wire making a difference, there are some of us who do. I for one am a believer. I had an old Onkyo HTIB that was good enough for me at the time before I upgraded to what I have now. Included in that HTIB was some crappy fishing wire thin speaker wire. I had no idea what I was missing until I upgraded to some 14AWG speaker wire I bought at Best Buy. The difference was night and day on those little Onkyo speakers, and I can only imagine what my current Polk speakers would sound like with some "real" speaker wire. I only wish I still had that speaker wire to try on my Polk's, lol. Like has been stated many times over in this thread, if you don't believe then fine, that is your opinion. You aren't going to change my mind when I have experienced first hand what a difference "quality" speaker wire can make. Not trying to stir the pot, just offering my $.02.

Personally, I'm all for free speech, but too many F-Bombs. Some of us like to read the Forum while at work on our breaks. When using company resources, ie the internet, there is no 'presumption' of privacy.
Secondly, if you wouldn't say something to someone else in person, then you probably shouldn't type it up and send it to someone via an email or forum.

As for seeing/reading this stuff online, keep in mind this is the internet and such content found on here or anywhere else is always subject to change...for the better and for the worse. Cable make a difference. NOT a myth. Recented updated my cables. 6cv, 8TC, Garden size speaker cable. What make the bigget difference is interconnect. Most important about interconnect is the first contact point. The terminal head must be heavy with plenty of pure copper head or silver head. You will enjoy music again.

I suspect Bobt has tried maybe three cables purchased from CC, Best Buy and RatShack to reach his conclusions. Anecdotal evidence is not evidence to the fact.
