Since I have the 2 piece version, I always keep the bass modules port holes plugged. This tightens up the bass to my liking.

Damn, go figure. I finally have some time tonight to post some pic's and I completely forgot that the camera software isn't installed in the new HD [the old one crashed about two months ago].

Man, I'll have to look around the digs tonight to try to find the computer parts/software box. Sorry 'bout that. I'll get them up ASAP.

Just hook up the USB cable, turn the camera on, and it should pop up on your screen. Then copy and paste the files from the camera folder to your hard drive.

Thanks Face. It ended up being an operator error issue with the camera but you made me try again and I figured it out. DOH!

Anyhoo, here are the photos I took of Ty's factory. They don't do justice to the size of this joint but that wasn't really on my mind when I was taking the photos as I'm sure that you folks could care less about that.

Here's the spray booth....well, part of it.
    Tyswarehouse017.jpg

Speakers in progress. This room was freakin' huge. The photos you see of all his speakers on the 'Gone are all taken to the left of this photo on a huge backdrop that's not in the picture.

    Tyswarehouse002.jpg

Here's the packing/boxing area where he stuffs the boxes with the custom padding.

    Tyswarehouse003.jpg

More speaker inventory......of course, this is all over the factory but.....

    Tyswarehouse005.jpg

Here's an inside pic of the Woodmere II's and a glimpse of the build quality.

    Tyswarehouse006.jpg

More coming....just give me some more time please....also, I'll reduce the size of the pic's tomorrow. Sorry for tonight's inconvenience.

Naw, he doesn't solder very much....

    Tyswarehouse008.jpg

Here's one impressive piece of machinery...

    Tyswarehouse009.jpg

Here's a speaker in the rough...

    Tyswarehouse011.jpg

3 table saws for various jobs...

    Tyswarehouse012.jpg

    Tyswarehouse013.jpg

He's got more leftover scraps of veneer than I have in my entire system. Some of these are $580.00 a pop.

    Tyswarehouse014.jpg

...and then there's the template collection for every speaker he's ever built...

    Tyswarehouse015.jpg

Well, that's all I will show of the photos of his shop. He does have a nice operation going on from design, to build, to assembly, all the way to the final product which I now have sitting in my house for the second time.

I forgot to add the words more money in my post last night.

Anyhoo, I talked with Gary about the turnaround time for the Dodd and he said that it would only be a couple of days.....but I may be having him do some custom aesthetic work for me which may delay things a bit. I'll know more in the next couple of days. What I would like to do is replace the knobs and faceplate with the some ribbon mahogany wood, including the remote. That way, the remote and the pre will match the speakers. :D:D:D

If you would like to help me find some exotic wood to finish the custom work, please read this thread. Thanks all. ;)

Face, it would have been nice if you and a select few others off this forum could have been there with me. It was definitely an eye opener and learning experience to see what all has to go into making such a nice set of speakers. Ty really knows what he's doing. ;)

He's having a blast doing it too! :D

I would have loved to check that place out. If he was local, I'd probably plead for a part time job. :D

Too much work could means less employee to work and work overload for everyone. It's just a good sign of a bad economy. Let's ask how the Tylers are selling nowadays.

The shopvac was already broken when I was there picking up my Linbrooks a couple of years ago. I thought then that it was a one man's operation, and still think that.

He does make wonderful speakers. You're in for a real treat Tom. Now we need pictures; not fair to use mine now ;)

I was waiting on someone to comment on that [the dust]. :p Yeah, he's a one man band right now. He is extremely busy right now which is good for him and his business. If I remember correctly, I think he had 4 or 5 pairs of speakers going out just this week with a wazzoo of orders following behind them.

His brother used to work for him and before that he had multiple employees. With the downturn in the economy around Dec. of '07, he had to scale back a bit. He's actually moving the entire operation to a different location as the factory is actually way too large for what he needs. I was able to tour the new factory as well and believe me, he will not run out of room there either.

I haven't gotten around to taking pic's of my speakers yet. Right now the rig is in shambles as I have many a project going on all at once, not to mention, there is not adequate light for photos tonight. The main thing I like about the aesthetics of the speakers is that the particular cut of ribbon mahogany he choose for these have a "tiger eye" appearance to them. The pattern changes as you move your head up and down or side to side. Very cool. It definitely makes for some nice eye candy.

Hmmm, I don't know. What I do know is that he will be going to the big show in Vegas here in about a week or so and that he will be driving. I'm sure that will slow him down a bit, but feel free to give him a call to find out fo' sho' the answer to your question. He's about as down to earth as they come and he will bend over backwards to accommodate you.

He does have some used speakers that are ready to fly out the door, FYI.

Ok, here's my latest thoughts. Let me know what you think....

I would like to acquire another Anthem1 amp to Bi-amp the Linbrooks. I am already working on getting the faceplate and remote custom made to match the ribbon mahogany of the speakers for the Dodd MLP. What I would like to do is get a custom face plate for the Anthem1 I have and the one I will be getting and making the face plate for both ribbon mahogany to match the rest of the rig.

I have already ordered a new faceplate for the Jolida to be black [currently have a silver face plate] so that the rig looks pristine and it all matches. Blue LED's wherever applicable to follow to pull it all together......

My question is as follows...Is there an issue with having the same tube amp to bi-amp a 4 ohm speaker? One amp to the highs and one to the lows?

Tell me now before I make a major mistake.

I know that the speakers can handle it, I was wondering about the longevity/capability of the amps.

The speakers are 4 ohm, however I do not know if they are an equal split. To answer that question, I will ask Ty.

Depending on the slopes used, how the drivers are wired, etc... the impedance can drop low. I believe that tweeter is 6ohms nom, the parallel woofers may dip below 4ohms though.

    Awesome. Congrats on your speakers.
Thanks for sharing the pics of the shop.
What's the sensitivity rating on them? I noticed that the first pic had tube amps.

Cool. I bet they'll sound great with your Anthem. I love it how there are more and more tube friendly speakers available now. Keep us posted and post some pics when you've got everything up and running.

For someone who just got new speakers, you sure are VERY patient. I would've connected the Carver pre right away while waiting for the Dodd lol:D.
