Treitz3's Tyler Acoustic's Linbrooks coming!!!

I had to talk him down a little last night. I'll head down tomorrow and see what all the fuss is about and report back.
Tom's a freak. -
The magic to the Linbrook and Taylos are in the spikes. The front spikes HAVE TO BE CD jewel case depth higher than the rear spikes... no questions asked.
That configuration in all rooms has made my speakers sound to the next level in imaging and detail.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
You're lining up the acoustic centers, which usually is a good thing."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Way back in this thread and throughout the forum on a bunch of posts, I told you all about an "unfortunate incident". It was the sole reason I got the Linbrook signature speakers to begin with, as there was nothing wrong with the 7U's I had.......Until.......
Below you will see a photo that was taken mere moments before the death of the speaker occurred. What you will see is a perfectly timed picture of a mint condition pair of $4,500.00 Tyler Acoustics Taylos 7U's ruined by one of the speakers being accidentally "launched" 3' up into the air, headed straight toward the pavement to its unfortunately premature death.
WARNING: If you are an audiophile, the image below may cause a severe pain in the lower regions and uncontrollable twitching and sorrow. You may want to sit down for this one. You have been warned...
This is your last warning. Are you prepared?

Well folks, that was the death of a speaker. For the faint of heart, I apologize.
Here's what went down......
This happened the very last day of Carverfest '09. Most of the folks had already started their long journey home to whatever state they flew in from or drove in from. It had been the plan to where when the time came to take these speakers over to the cabin next door and hook them up to the famed and rare Carver Silver Seven tube amps.
Both the owner of the Silver Sevens, myself and a select few others really wanted to hear what the sound would be like paired together after a week of listening to many, many a system. Well, when my rig [Sparky, as it's called] was done being auditioned we decided it was time. We unhooked the speakers, carefully lifted them up and started out of the cabin.
We made it out of the DR/LR area, through the doors without a scratch, down the deck stairs safely (one of us, at least) and then.......my buddy James didn't see where the handicapped ramp sloped down to the rest of the driveway. He twisted his ankle and fell to his knee. The rest of his saga is explained in the 1000 words the picture provides.
Now, the gentleman following behind him is me. The bald guy. As you can tell from the round pic, I had quite the expression on my face. To me, it all happened over a 5 minute timespan. Slow as hell ,to say the least. I have since then tried to make this face again and no matter how I try? No can do. Not even close.
Now here's the coincidental thing which the picture provided for you. Another buddy of mine [Eddie] was just coming back from a hike, taking pictures of the beautiful scenery surrounding the 'fest. He saw us two walking out with the speakers and decided to take a photo to add to the CD of photos we make every year. Without even looking into the camera, shooting this pic with the camera dangling from the strap around his neck and just pointing, this is the shot he got.
We could not have planned this in a thousand years. When they say timing is everything? Here's the proof.

Holy ****. I feel like I just got kicked in the ****. I just ran to my listening room to tell my speakers everything will be ok. That is close to my worst nightmare.

Ty has it right now. I didn't have the heart to hook it back up to see if it still worked. I have pic's around here somewhere of the actual damage [unless it got lost in my HD crash]. Basically, it was FUBAR.
The crossover was dangling somewhere in the center of the speaker, the base was about an inch and a half off kilter and the wood finish? ......Well, you could guess what that looked like.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Wow, so Ty thinks he can recover and restore the speaker nonetheless? -
Nope, they are trashed. He wanted the drivers.....what was recoverable, that is. He said that the cabinet was a total loss.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Jeebus man. That's why I have transporting my gear for events. It's scary business. -
See the trailer in the background? That's mine and you can barely see the back of my truck. 3 hours on the road and up one of the steepest hills and F'd up roads known to man and all my gear gets there and back every year without a scratch.
The one freakin' paved part of the trip? That's when the damage occurs. Go figure.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

You should have mounted the binding posts or nameplate on a plaque with that picture. -
Wow Tom I got a mouthful of acid when I saw the picture. That is definitely effed up.
However you can take solice in the fact that the makers of the recent Star Trek movie got the inpiration for "Nero's" face from the little round circle.
BTW did your buddy get hurt? He looks like Jesus falling under the cross. -
To my friend Joe.......

Yes, James got hurt. His knee is still F'd up but his elbow is cured. Just for the record, there is no bad blood or even so much as a bad thought toward him. **** happened and I took the opportunity to upgrade.
