I'm currently listening to Mr. Bob Marley's "We're Jammin'" and he couldn't be more correct. This system is definitely the best I have ever had, bar none. For those that know me, it blows crackbaby away by leaps and bounds. If you don't know what I am talking about, it's my old rig. Those who have heard crackbaby would understand.

All I have to say is OH MY!!! :D:D:D

It seems that anything and everything I throw at these speakers, they handle it exceedingly well. All aspects. I still haven't done the Sumiko setup, installed the spikes or even added the second Anthem1 amp for bi-amping. This rig sounds incredible.

I'm done with the tube, PC and IC swap outs for the first amp. I am currently running a Ei Gold pin 12AX7 for the first stage amplification, Brima 12AU7's for the driver tubes and Winged "C" EL34's for the power tubes. Bias is only set at .42 [the bias can be set to .4 to .5]. I feel no need right now to push it beyond that.

I will wait for my review of these speakers until I have everything installed and tweaked to my liking. Here's why....when I first hooked them up, I thought I had made a mistake getting these speakers. Even though the sound was very impressive, there were many things that I did not like about them. Over the course of time and with many changes, the sound is now very, very, very pleasing with the aspects that I did not like just about gone.

I really want to get the second amp in and finish the damn rig.....but I keep stopping to enjoy the music. I guess that's not a bad thing, eh? :D

I had the same experience when I first got my Linbrooks. They sounded like crap, but I found out that I was driving them with the wrong kind of amp (chip amp). Once I paired it with the right amp things were good.

Glad to hear you are liking them. You'll probably even improve the sound way more once you get everthing put together and dialed in. Looking forward to your Official review later.

Good to hear your making progress. Nothing wrong with stopping to listen to the music.

So it was meant to be, so it is, and so it will forever be, you just never can tell where or when the big rabbit hole might pop up and in this case trip someone setting things in motion, she died an honorable although unexpected death.

You do though need to submit the pic to the national high blood pressure folks as it has definete Poster Boy Potential, in fact one of those vessels in your forehead is so gourged with blood in looks as if you are growing a horn.........................you little devil.

Nope. :p Good things come to those who wait. It's a pic after all isn't it? It's not like it's audio **** or anything.....

I just got off the phone with the famously rabid and seriously twisted Micah Cohen. He [and hopefully his wife to keep my wife company ;) ] will be visiting in short order. Just have to let the ice on the roads melt a bit. How come anybody never asked what Lightman1 thought of the rig? Bunch of slackers. It seems all you want is pics! WTF?

Treitz, I give it two months before you start tweaking again. You are incurable dude, and it's time to admit it.:D

Glad you like the new speaks, can't wait to hear them.

If Tom doesn't throw up pics soon, then he didn't get them and is probably gushing over a Bose 1-2-3 system.

Ok, ok, ok, ok........I get the hint. Pic's coming soon to a post near you. I just took a couple of shots of the rig, neeked and clothed. I'll crop 'em and reduce the size a bit and get them up some time this evening.

Shoot Skip, I'm tweaking this rig everyday as we speak and I STILL haven't hooked up the second Anthem1 amplifier. Heck, come to think of it I still haven't hooked up the SMS-1 and the VMPS Larger either. The tunes keep interrupting me :D. I may be done with my rig [for the foreseeable future], but the tweaks will never stop.

Alright, screw it. Resizing the photos is taking what seems like forever. I'll just go ahead and post them as is. I might possibly go back later and re-size them but don't hold your breath....

I know, I know.....don't laugh at the TV. You can tell that's NOT where my interests lie right now. Trust me, it's on its last leg and we will get a flat screen soon enough. Gotta remember, this rig had to be moved downstairs to accommodate our newborn sons room. The wife wants just as bad as I do to have this rig in a dedicated audio room......and she knows EXACTLY what that room will entail [acoustic absorbers, one recliner, bass traps, ceiling treatments, etc...] :D. Gotta love a wife like that! ;)

Anyhoo, this good enough for ya'?

If you notice, right now, nothing is hooked up but the basic system.

Source - SACD player and the Jolida
    Pre - Dodd MLP
    Amp - Anthem1
Speakers - I'll let you guess...

K.I.S.S. is the name of the game for right now and like they say in the McDonald's commercial? "I'm LOVIN' it!" :D

    Nice setup Tom.

Just noticed you have your TV setting on your sub, does it move any? Does the sub blend with your fronts?

The sub hasn't been hooked up for over a year. It does blend with the mains extremely well, if not perfectly [at least with the Taylos, IME] when used in conjunction with the Velodyne SMS-1. It blends the mains to the sub with a multitude of adjustments/tweaks and then it takes both and matches it to the rooms acoustics directed at nothing else but the sweet spot.

When I had it running, the biggest compliment I had was how well the sub blended/disappeared. Bob Carver even said the same thing, which coming from him was [to me] a definite compliment. Done right? The SMS-1 does the job and does it well. Having the right gear, knowledge, experience and ear doesn't hurt either. ;)

Now be a good boy and pull them a couple feet into the room.

Very Nice speakers! 2 questions ~

    1. Why using the TV as old as you and lifting the TV with risers helps picture quality?

    2. Why do you put the speakers so close to the TV (sub) and the rack?
