Simply amazing 3d great movie for sci-fi fans. I wouldn't say it is a dancing with wolves story but Pocahontas would be a bullseye match. Non the less I will be going to see this movie again.

Went with the wife and in-laws to see it today. Everyone enjoyed it. Saw it in Real 3D; looked good, although it took about 15 min for my eyes to get comfortable with it.

I watched this with my son this afternoon in IMAX 3D. Simply mindblowing special effects. The 3D was so good that with IMAX it felt like being in the movie. Good story as well. I have to put it in the top 5 most entertaining movies I've ever seen.

If you get the chance see it in IMAX. You will be blown away.

I'll see this sometime in January when I can enjoy the film and avoid the crowds.

I wish I had done the same. The theater I was in was probably 90 degrees, and it ruined the movie for me. there were just to many people there.
The movie though was the only movie I have ever seen that I would say was artwork. I saw the 3D version and it looked amazing. I really couldn't believe what I was watching. I have always dreamed of hologram moives and games and this was pretty much it. I had seen monsters vs aliens in 3D , and it was impressive, but Avatar changed the way movies should look.

As far as the story goes, it was very run of the mill. Nothing to make you think, major plot twists, or surprises. Within the first 30 minutes of the movie you know the ending, but the visuals keep you wanting to see more. Pretty much a tricked out version of dances with wolves. But it is a very, very nice looking movie. A must see just for the visuals. The only complaint I have, is that it took my eyes a half hour or so to adjust.
    I would give the visuals a 10, and the story a 6 or 7.

If I was the people making these 3D TV's I would be renting out entire theaters for this movie and letting people in for free. This movie alone will sell more of those TV's then any advertising they could possibly do.

My daughter and I went to see Avatar in 3D last night. Two thumbs up! The story may have been weak and pretty predictable, but the 3D, special effects, visuals more than made up for it!

I wonder if they can make some sort of BD release of this with the 3D glasses that would give some magnitude of the 3D effects on your HT? We have some other std def 3D dvd releases that came with the glasses, and the impact is pretty marginal on those.

My wife and I saw this today on a full IMAX 110' X 90' screen in IMAX 3D. No issues with our eyes syncing up as with some Real 3D features...just awesome eye candy from the get go without some of the 3D tricks you sometimes see. It was there to serve the story and immerse you in a very well built fantasy world. I've stayed away from reviews and hype. I'm glad I did since I was thoroughly impressed. This one ranks up there with Star Wars(1977) as a world changing cinema experience. The plot had to be derivative in order to get the financial backing for a mainstream blockbuster and the Dancing w/Wolves//Pocohantas theme worked very well. What amazed me was how it was built from the opening scenes, each one concise and revealing at a pace that never let you question or lag each amazing scene building on the next with ever increasing intensity. You never really get a chance to disbelieve, you just want to see more of what's coming.

I've got to get my kids to go and I'll have to go too. Great movie.

My wife and I went to se this yesterday. We saw it in "digital 3d" because the IMAX was sold out all day (couldn't even get a ticket to the 10:30pm show at 10am). WE WILL SEE IT IN IMAX!!!! I thought it was an incredible cinema experience - moreso for the visual effects than the actual storyline. I thought the storyline's message was a little over the top and the sargeant was comical in his behavior. That said, nothing in the storyline could have ruined the visuals of this movie - simply stunniing.

As I have said seen it twice but my problem is I have went solo. Today I was going to go with a friend but the baby sitter had other plans so could not watch his child. My main friend that I use to go to the movies almost every weekend has seemed to found himself a girl that will complain if he does not hang out with here everyday. I hope to at least see it with a few different friends as well as once with a former class mate at imax which should be stunning.

Anyway I wounder how much of that billion has come from people seeing it two or three times.

The wife and I, along with our friends, went to see it at the theater in 3D. I was a bit miffed that I was forced to pay a $2.50 rental fee for the glasses (polarized), but I was expecting it.

It took my eyes around 10-15 minutes to get used to the glasses and the 3D, but after that I was fully engrossed in the movie. This is an amazing movie without 3D, and 3D simply adds another dimension to it (no pun intended). Seeing the floating balls when he first wakes up is trippy, and when the flying "spirit flowers" appear randomly in the forest, it's always a treat to see how they seem to float right in front of you.

There's no doubt in my mind that i'll be buying this on blu-ray when it comes out. The real question is whether or not they can successfully implement digital 3D for normal home tv's. If they can, i'll buy the 3D version. If not, the 2D.

It'd be nice if they included BOTH in 1 set, but I seriously doubt they'd be that nice.
