Some Babylon AD action. Never saw this movie and heard it was good some very good colors, story line, eh not so much. My photo skills are kinda poor, some movement in my taking so not the best shot, a little blurry but not bad for not being calibrated right now, and its only a 720P. -
Looking good!!! What PJ do you have?

u mean that's yer baby tv, or your jvc's "mini-me"...

that's that sharp xv-z9000u that I was talking about a few months ago. I picked it up for SUPER cheap, its the deal that came with the scaler and cables and all that. Well the scaler died no big deal as I never needed it to begin with. Set my SC-05 and BDP-05 to 1080i and this is what I get. The blacks are good, however I want them to be better and a little bit more pop to my picture. But for 300 bucks or so, I couldn't really go wrong. -

Have you seen the PJ's at HIFI Heaven? They have the Epson 9500 in stock. -
I did a movie night Friday and enjoyed it. Had a few friends over and they were floored. I made 3 batches of Great American Theater popcorn served with butter topping.

just got a different PJ to hold me off until I figure out which 1080P I want. So I got the Sharp XV-Z12000 and got some new screen shots that I'll be posting tonight. Still 720P but I got a whole projector, and new bulb for what it would cost me to get a new lamp for most PJ's and got it hooked up HDMI to DVI.

only decent photo from last night. Man I suck at taking pictures. -

How does it compare to your old PJ? -

its better. I like the iris feature it has on it as I can go from a high contrast ect. Which is what I've been using. However seeing my screen is a lower gain only 1.1 it doesn't give as much pop as I would like but then again, its still pretty good and the black levels are a LOT better. -
i don't really understand your logic cstmar. wouldn't it have been more prudent to apply monies from that new 720p to the 1080p of your choice?

see I wanted a good PJ to use for now until I can get out and view the more expensive ones that I would settle on for the long haul. The first one I had I picked up pretty cheap, and same with this one. I saw the picture of the Optoma HD20 and was not impressed. I feel my 720P Sharp that I have now produces a better picture than the HD20. Also I want to see other PJs in use, DLP vs LCD ect and get a feel for what I want and save from there.
I understand it looks goofy for me to spend some here and there, but for the amount I spent it wasn't that bad. Also if I can sell it and get most of my money back I can always put that towards the 1080P. I didn't have a lot into it, so for me I should be able to sell them pretty easily.
Also if I'm going to be spending 2K plus I want to make sure I'm going to be happy with the picture for awhile and not want to upgrade for about 2 years or so (I hope). -
i haven't seen the hd20 besides kasr's above, but that sounds "off" that it wouldn't better a 720 sharp any day of the week? i'm a rookie myself. just trying to get my learn on.

from what I saw, (and it could have not been calibrated correctly, so that may have something to do with it) I felt it was over saturated in the color and that the black levels were lacking. The current sharp I have has a full CMS and the colors are very close to 6500. It give a very smooth picture I think and I really do enjoy it.
Once again the HD20 might not have been calibrated correctly. and every environment is different. I would be willing to try it out again. A friend of mine had it and it was set up at his place. I'll have to try and convince him sometime to bring it over and let me see it again in my place and see if it makes a difference.
I really do like the screen shots Kasr has, and is making me think it was his set up.
I've been really wanting to see some of the JVC's in action. That and I wanted to get a better look at the Epson 9500UB. Those two are very high on my lists. -
from all that i read, those are two great choices.

they are supposed to be great. I've only seen the 9500 in action for a short while bout 5 min so I would like to see it for a bit longer before making a choice. The JVC I've never seen in action in person so I'm on a hunt for a dealer who has one set up to view it so I can get a feel for how it looks. For me I'm stuck in the middle of WI and there are not a whole lot of places by me to view, but I've been looking around and where I can go to view some. -
If the budget allows buy the JVC. As for seeing it, I can tell you that even doing a blind buy you will be happy you did. JVC is the projector to have if the money allows. They seem to be up on the game and are considered reference PJs. If the fund permit, buy it. On the other hand the Epson is good too, just JVC is considered black level champ.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Black level champs yes but the only negative I can say about my rs20 is that it's not as bright as I liked it to be. The Epson 9500ub on the other hand isn't as black as the JVC but I like the brightness and pop it has. -

I own the same machine, but its been sitting in the basement for over a year due it is a PITA to clean. Do you have any cleaning tips....also, what type of oil do you use to pop? -

and see I don't know what I want more right now, the black level or the bright pop. To me the only way I will know this is viewing in person. And I want to see if there is possibly a choice of, JVC black level with the Epson pop, so thats why I've been searching around looking to see what I like and what I could live with for awhile. -

If you come down sunday we can go to Flanners. They have about 7 different PJ's setup that you can view. JVC, Epson,Sony, and Panny. The Sony throws a great picture also. -

That would be cool. I haven't been to audio places around Milwaukee so it will be cool to see what they got.
