I dont get this - some members come on here and post some problems theyre seeing with the forum and suggest ways to fix it. Whats the response? "Dont like it? Tough! Get the F out!" Whats with this attitude?

No attitude here, I'm just voicing my thoughts. I know there are those of us that believe the forum would be less of a place without us but in reality, that's just ego. I could pack my bags and within a year be just a memory. That goes for anyone. I'm sure we'd lovingly read about ourselves in 2-3 "Where are they now?" threads or "Why aren't senior members posting anymore?!"....that's already happened actually. I used to get all wrapped around the axle here but that became counterproductive a long time ago. I really try to keep it simple or not publically participate at all. The Polk Audio documented knowledge base is more solidified in this forum than its ever been historically. Since that's happened I don't find why veteran members are that big of a deal. I guess newer members lose out a bit butI don't think about that much.

I feel the forum could use a little a more moderating. I personally feel that it's pretty easy to ignore and forget about the crap that some people post, and I'm on here constantly while at work.

However in the Flea Market I feel it's a big deal, and feel that that the Mods should be more active in that section. It's good that we have members who look after each other, and are usually quick about recognizing these issues (posting 25 useless posts in 2 days to sell gear, posting links to the same product at a lower price, and blatantly trying to make a buck).

KrazyMofo24 - What exactly about the FM doesn't work for you? If it's only a new member posting until he can sell, what's really abnormal about it? The new member thing is pretty transparent.

Just like the Club Polk itself, the Flea Market here is free to anyone with an email and registration to use. Anyone with an email could register and use it at will.

I think some of us may have become obsessive with the idea of getting more for the Free Flea Market and Free Forum.

Having said that, I think the number of people coming to CP to sell and take a hike has been increasing. It's not a problem if you are not buying anything.

Even if you are buying something, just use a good judgment as you would buy from anywhere else and be weary to buy something from the new seller who doesn't accept PayPal or will not accept local pickup and pay with Cash option.
Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin:

I believe I listed two others in my original post. Members who sells items that are misleading like the R50's or not being truthful about an item especially when it can be proven in previous posts. Also other members who derail the original sellers post or posts links to other ads to try to get a better price.

EDIT: I see that I put that I feel it's a big deal I should rephrase, and say that I feel that they should focus more on that section since it does involve money.

I'm personally fine with the forum, if I were to nitpick that would be it.

moderation is not the answer. I am new here so I really don't have a dog in this fight, but I believe the best post so far was the one showing the rules. We need to follow them, simple as that. The mods should perhaps do a better job of enforcement, but we certainly do not need more of them. So far however I see nothing that horrible in the first place or I would not have wasted my time joining. just my 2c...

I hear ya bro but I am one of those that think that this WOULD be less of a place without guys like you, Jesse, Troy, Russ and so on. Guys that have spent the last 6,7,8+ years answering questions of Polk customers, helping people, offering advice and generally having a good time. Its them who set the tone that made this forum more of a gathering of friends instead of a simple internet forum. Take away these people and this becomes just any other typical forum where there is no interaction but rather endless threads with the same old questions.

And trust me I know. The car audio side 4 years ago had 8 or 9 diehard regulars that posted every day. Any time we learned something new we had to post it on here for the rest of us to discuss it. Now thats over. Every single thread now is just a simple question from somebody that posts 2 or 3 times then leaves once his question is answered. This is the way it is on a lot of other forums. Lifeless.

So yeah, you can run off all the senior members that have known each other for nearly a decade and bring a familial atmosphere to this place, and you can have strict guidelines that all threads have to be audio specific with no off topic anything and you can tell anybody that raises an eyebrow to "dont let the door hit you on the way out" and eventually youll have a typical, lifeless internet forum. Just look at the car audio side my friends. From a devoted brotherhood to a plain old customer service FAQ section in just a short while.

Dont get me wrong, Im not saying Polk Audio will fold without this forum or anything like that - my reasons are purely selfish. I loved being a part of this forum but not so much anymore. I want that back.

How it is possible in your 3 days here to know what this forum or doesnt need is beyond me. I am absolutley astonished at the gall that you have shown, to assume to know what this forum does or doesnt need in this time period is ludicrous.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I have been watching and reading for months. What I have done is simply point to the rules that were posted in this thread. It is you that are not following them now by finding fault with my post and making it personal in open forum. If you have a beef take it private where it belongs.
