I didn't read the whole thing only the first couple of pages and lol guys, please get a hold of yourselves.

Who cares if EMO overstates and mislead their customers or not, as long as they sound good to my ears compare to other blablah brands with a similar price, I'd be happy. Also, I just don't get the comparison of Porsche vs Stereo equipments... are you comparing the brand recognition? How many people who's not auto enthusiasts know Porsche and many non-audiophiles know Krell? Are you comparing the scope of engineering? It's not even close and while you can find speakers with a price that can fill a parking lot with Porsches. Stop arguing over price vs value, and stop comparing apples with oranges.

Uhhh.... a crapload? According to Google Trends, Porsche is researched twice as often as Pontiac or Cadillac and is roughly on par with Chevy.

What does a porch have to do with an EMU?

Unless of course you have an EMU on your porch...then you may have some issues...like how do you get into your house with an EMU standing on your porch in front of the door?

    That's an ok amp,slightly harsh but powerful,enjoy.

This is 'not' a good thread to be serious in! But, personally, I do not find Adcoms to be harsh! Are there better, yeah...but harsh is too harsh. They sound a lot warmer than most 1000-2000+ Receivers.

Now back to the never ending Emo story...Emo...

I'd put the Adcoms on the grainy side, depending on which series they were, The newer ones seem to be worse than others. Other than that, they are normally bullet-proof. If I had my choice, I'd stick with HCA series Parasounds, which used are in the same price range.

I have the original model 555. I know reviews say they're grainy...but it doesn't sound that prominent to me. Parasounds I have heard are a bit smoother.

Apologies for interrupting our thread here.

    Three things:

Firstly, the Spearker Cables thread is totally inferior to this, Ricardo's masterpiece. It cannot be allowed to surpass this thread in views and/or post count.

Secondly, a new Emotiva review is available from Audioholics. This is for the UPA-2 model. The result is pretty much a foregone conclusion if past results are anything to judge them by. http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/amplifiers/emotiva-upa-2-stereo-amplifier

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to remind our faithful viewers that Ricardo did not actually own the faulty units described at the beginning of this thread himself, as he has repeatedly stated, but was merely conveying the information for our perusal and enjoyment.

:D:DSo... In the review they compared a 125wpc amplifier to a 40wpc AVR. Now THERE is an article worth reading.

I've never thought Adcom amps were grainy either. If you pair it with the same generation Adcom pre-amp that's where the grain comes from IMO. Adcom has really only made 1 pre-amp that is any good............and it's stellar; the GFP-750.

Now back to your regularly scheduled EMO program.

here is another post for you then cnh. The review an audioholics support just what we have said here all along. The EMO amps are probably great if you are stepping up from an AVR, but they just don't have the finnesse of many of the preferred higher priced/quality amplifiers.

Don't really disagree with you a_m,

Emo amps occupy a place in the market. They're a direct buy company and their equipment is probably better than the price point they sell at. Any more claims than that is where you get your debates. I would assume that they are some sort of reverse engineering design--that copies/adds to some other original design. But that's just a guess.

Yea. An EMO amp might be good for this guy.. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81904 since he has underpowered LSI's and isn't interested in spending a ton of $. As long as he doesn't get infected with the never ending quest for better sound that most of us have he will be ok and notice an improvement over the AVR.

With that review tucked tightly in their belt, right next to all the others from Audioholics, I wonder if Emotiva are finally going to address their problem with poor Customer Service. I mean: are they at least going to take that call from Shack when he wants to let them know that he will not be ordering a UPA-2 from them? It's not rocket science, if you ask me (and even if you don't ask me, 'coz what the hell do I know about rocket science?!), and they should at least have the decency to send him an automated e-mail detailing his lack of order status without tracking numbers. Could it be that hard to do?!
