Okay, I will add some more. I bought Carl's CRS+'s. I liked them alot. I bought his RDO-194's and installed them. Actually, one at a time like he suggested with the cap on the other SL-2000. I prefer the RDO's to either the SL-2000 with or without the cap. My preference is the RDO's hands down. That is what sounds tremendously better to me.
He likes the SL-2000s with the cap. He may have some flawed hearing or something that leads him to that opinion, I can't speak to that. I can attest to the fact that he is an honest, stand-up person in real life.
Let's all just quit posting about this; pretty soon we are all in the wrong. Wrong when imposing our view-points in un-related threads, and wrong to personally attack others we don't really know or understand.
We all have our own perspective, so let's try to keep that in perspective. -

And candyliqour is no "kid". He was probably graduating high school before you were ever a tingling sensation in your daddy's pants.
And for the last time, nobody is bagging on CL for wanting to mess with stuff and no one has said he is dishonest. What everyone who is giving him a hard time is saying is that his tweak can be, at the minimum, mathematically shown to be a detriment and that his tweak is NOT "removing" any spikes but rather attenuating the entire speaker. Like what was already said, this changes how the speaker relates to the crossover network and how it responds.
On top of that, he has made up a part number that will likely lead to enthusiasts not in the know to call Polk Audio Customer Service and ask about the "WC" version of the SL2000. This will lead to Polk Audio CS having to either do a ton of dancing around to be nice to said enthusiasts or just flat out say no it never existed. Either way, this leaves a bad taste in the enthusiast's mouth because CL can't get it through his thick head that he has no affiliation with Polk Audio and has no authority to arbitrarily make up new part numbers.
There are issues here that will cause problems. Those of us who are ticked off understand what this can and will do to this forum and Polk Audio. Since we have an interest in keeping our little jewel of the internet up and running, it is in our best interests to be aware of how we affect Polk Audio too. So be clear, these are not personal attacks. The only one making personal attacks in License2ill. This a bunch of other enthusiasts telling another enthusiast that he is out of line. We try to be a good source of realistic info and advice as a whole and CL is far removed from that ideal and it reflects badly on all of us.
Oh yeah, License2ill, I DO have a degree. From one of the most well known and respected engineering/technical schools on the east coast. I work for Lockheed Martin building radar and weapons systems. I, like many more others than you think here, am more than just a "wanna-be's proffessing chit they have no degrees for". You'd be surprised how many of those other people visit the car audio side of the house too! If I had the time to sit down and go through all the math and build the graphs just to educate your punk-**** and shut CL up, I would. But it's Easter weekend, I have family in town and much better things to do than deal with an internet tough guy. I'm sure others do too. We don't all have time to chew on 'shrooms while we stick capacitors in places they shouldn't be and then say it sounds great.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

No one appointed u ppl of chit...and also Polk can take care of their own bizniz....the bottom line is you **** are nobody to be censorizing anybody in here...or what they do....a lot of car tweeters come with a cap on them...and if some are installed after a XO then it's bypassed but some ppl like the dampening affect it has and leave it inline...
It may not seem appropriate or mathematically correct inline with a XO and I personally dont like it. But it can have the effect he speaks of even if it is only from an audio perspective and not from a measurement of frequencies.
If you want to fax me your degree I'd gladly wipe my azz with it.

The only thing in your post worth replying to is your idea about car audio tweeters having capacitors on them. Check out the writing on the side next time. It actually means something. In most cases, and there are very few exceptions for this, those capacitors are meant to limit the amount of low frequencies that reach the tweeter to keep it from destroying itself trying to reproduce a frequency range outside of the tweeter's physical capabilities. In other cases, it can be used along with a resistor or sometimes with just resistors to change the load presented to the amplifier to meet the 4 ohm or 8 ohm standards. In the impedance load case, it's usually resistors that are used but I can see how an untrained eye such as yours wouldn't be able to tell the difference. It's easy though. Capacitors have numbers written on them with some funny symbols next to them. Resistors have little bands of pretty colors and they can be any number of colors. They are nice to look at! Capacitors, not so much but capacitors can make a loud popping noise and shower you with scalding oil sometimes so that's kinda cool.
You know what though? The more you post, the clearer it becomes that you lack any kind of technical background and you do not have a firm grasp of the English language. You should just stop now because you are not winning any friends. You are influencing people though, just not in a positive manner.
Oh and if you actually had a degree of your own, you'd realize that they are often not printed on standard sized paper and won't really fax so easily.It's not even paper either. Mine is on parchment because that's politically correct now but I know that some Ivy League schools (you know what they are right?) still used actual sheep/lamb skin. As to why I would even bother to entertain the thought of faxing anything to you, I'm not sure.
