Seriously, complaining about how much sports stars make is so overplayed and ridiculous. They make what the market will bear. Compensation for jobs is not based on difficulty or enjoyment, it's based on scarcity and demand. Sports are in very high demand, and players who can play at the level of the pros are scarce. The day no one gives a **** about sports anymore is the day these guys don't take home millions. As long as the Super Bowl gets hundreds of millions of viewers, the people who provide the entertainment for the Super Bowl will be paid for it. It's this whole thing called a "free market."
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Was Tiger remorseful before or after he got a 5 Iron upside the head?

Man this thread has generated a lot of posts? As for me...GOLF doesn't do it for me....a former working class kid from Pa. does NOT play Golf....and he does not concern himself with this, I even hesitate to call it a 'sport'. Tiger is, certainly, great at this form of boredom..and my hat is off to him for being the best at something I never watch.

I think what is more important about Tiger is that he broke through the good ole boy Country Club circuit...but then again..I'm reminded of Groucho Marx's famous quote:

I've never want to be a member of a club that would have me as a member!

As for Tiger....Everyone's human...everybody's F@ckd up. So everyone should get over it and move on!

From our experience, Tiger is an ****. At the Western Open a few years ago, Tiger hit a bad shot, and ended up hitting my GF on the fly. Did he ask if she was ok? No. He told her to move so he could hit his f'n ball. She was in the gallery, and her dad was a marshall.

Personally, like cnh, I've never watched golf, and never wanted to, it bores me to tears.

People view Tiger as a saint, for whatever reason, an untouchable person who can-do-no-wrong, sort of like (imma step on a land mine with this one) Obama.

These people are human, and they make mistakes, no matter how much their PR machine tries to cover that up. Screwups happen, and when the PR machine isn't fast enough this is what happens. The sooner people realize that "celebrities" are just people, (rich and famous people mind you, but still people), the sooner they'll realize that for all their money and all their fame, they're just normal people (although some like Celine Dion have an overinflated sense of self importance).

Wow, I'm surprised how many people really care about the whole thing...

He's a golfer, people, not the freaking President of the United States, a US ambassador, or the pope. Apparently he's also not a perfect human being. But from the coverage you'd think he was the pope, cheating on his wife with young boys.

Look, the guy's a **** for what he did to his wife and family, there's no doubting that. I just don't see how any of this is really any business of the public or belongs in a thread discussing his golfing ability. I realize the thread had already taken a turn previously, but still...

It does suck though for all the people who bought tickets to the tournament this week to see Tiger play, hopefully the guys in the tournament will put on a good show and give the spectators their money's worth.

It does look like they're refunding tickets though, wonder how many people take them up on that:
And that's why McLaughlin made the surprising decision to offer a refund to anyone who bought a ticket to the tournament, as well as a 20 percent discount to those who come and buy a ticket next year. Tickets to PGA Tour events typically are sold on a no-refund basis, with all proceeds going to charity.

A working class kid from PA doesn't play golf? Tell that to Arnold Palmer.

Don't consider it a sport? Can you play on a competitive level? Give it a try and let me know how that works out for you.

Sorry Bro but I disagree. I was a working class kid from PA and played golf for years as does my son and the dozens of friends I golfed with.

Golf takes a lot of skill. Eye, hand and body coordination. One is competing against oneself as well as others so I think that qualifies as a sport.

Golf is fine for what it is...a competitive game. Hardly qualifies as a sport in my book. Hell, just putting the arm on your record requires a lot of skill... eye, hand & body coordination. ;)
