Its 3am here. I need to stop. For your viewing enjoyment here is another pick. The paint is not dry around the speaker holes. That is the gloss look you see. A little clean up, and final temp coat is going on tomorrow.:p May I can go to sleep now?

Thats about 5 miles from me. I won't be back here till July 17th, and I am leaving on the 6th. It would be cool to hook up. Is there a golf coarse near that church?

That will be a work in progress. Most of the XO is going to be passive inline for now, and I will be experimenting with active. There will also be a passive XO in the speaker to roll off higher frequencies, and increase the slope to 24db to help save the tweeters from frying at high power levels. Thanks for the encouragement.

    Ben

Oh yeah I should be firing up these thing Monday night:)

I used some Decor paint I found at the hardware store. It simulates granite. It look pretty good I wouldn't say that it looks like granite though. Nice speckle job that will be easy to touch up.

Damn my fingers hurt from driving all the screws with a screw gun! Well Half done installing drivers. Had to play some music in stereo. I hit 120db nice clear, and tight. I'm putting 450 to the tweeters, and 800 to the woofers. Later on tonight I hope to add another 800 to the dim array. :D We need a custom icon with fingers in the ears here on Polk! Thats a pretty crappy pic. I'll post a better one later:)

Edit The bass is even better than before!

Damn This thing sounds good. I can not believe the accuracy, tightness, and SPL levels this thing can reach. I hit 123db. I can't even put it into words. I am my toughest critic if you have read any of my post, but I love this. You just wouldn't believe this. Anyway here is a pic. Almost done. I am going to have to post a video sometime of the 4 10's jumping. Unfreaken real. No spacey out phase crap. I thought I was going to have some issues. Its all good:)

Thanks Bill. I have to still do some fine tuning. That BS box I built with all those fancy level controls, and switch's was a total waste of time. My big amps require 2 volts for full output and my amp that is driving the tweeters only requires 1.14 for full out. I have no Idea how this ended up working. I did some cable swapping. I have the balanced output converted to unbalanced going to my main woofer, and I have one of those fancy AQ y's splitting to my SDA array, and tweeter amp. You would think by reading the specs that the tweeters would be way over driven. I have no idea how the levels are matched perfectly, and I really don't care. I am happier than a pig in filth! Ye Ha!

My head hurts. You know how older people have that flab below there arms. Well I had my elbow propped up, and I don't have flab under my arms, but when the speakers hit it feels like my triceps are being blow back, and forth. I hit 124db last night(this morning), and it is definitely way to much for sustained listening. When it hits it really hits.

Dude there is no way I am going to build a pair of speakers larger than this. They sound absolutely wonderful. The bass is so strong that it causes me to do a walk around to make sure nothing is on the floor, or fallen down. The length of the array is key to the sound stage. If I were to make any modification to this I would have put one 10 on the bottom, and one 10 on the top. I really don't think that at the low bass levels they put out that there would be any phase issues. The reason I put all 4 10's together like that was to make it seem like one giant woofer, and I have little kids who like to poke speakers. I do not know what would actually sound better. I just can't explain enough how tight the bass is. It hits hard. No booming. The only problem I have is trying to tighten ever thing up in my place. Even the light fixture lenses resonated. The drop ceiling support bars resonate. The bass from this thing digs deeper than my Sono Sub:eek: WIRES DO MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE! When I figure out the best synergy I will post with what has worked best.

    Thanks Ben

Did you wire the woofers in series/parallel directly or did you taper the sound level at the top and bottom ends? Just wondering.

    ben --

Tell us more baout the sound quality. I'd like to hear how it sounds with different types of music. Is it detailed? How low does the bass go? What about soundstage and imaging? Is it bright or laid back? Etc.
