OK what do you guys think. I want to add another layer of MDF to the sides of these. I know it will bring the weight up to around 400 pounds each, but I want to sandwich a sound barrier between the layers, and they need a little stiffening. Should I veneer them with Mahogany? Stain them black? Do them like Jerry's, and my other SDA's?

The speakers were custom built by me with some help from Polk. I recently decommissioned them because I simply do not have the room to run them proprly, and I don't need the kind of output they put out. I am working on refining my sound, and not maximizing it.

So then should I take it that it is out of the question to place an order for one of these? These are impressive Ben! Did you use Polk Speakers or did you go with other speakers?

If you are working on refining the sound, does that mean you are building a new smaller version of these speakers?

I used Polk mids and passives. I used a few different non Polk tweeters. I already built some "smaller" speakers;)

    Ben -

Those look very impressive! If you do not do this for a living, you should think of doing it. You have a talent! Have you tried doing your own version of the SDA-SRS 1.2TLs? Also, do you have thoughts about how the RD0198s vs. the other high end tweeters that are out there?

Do you have thoughts about replacing a tweeter in an SRS-1.2TL speaker with a non-Polk high-end tweeter?

If you have Polk's stick with the proper replacement Polk drivers. I would love to make new SDA's for people, but I will not infringe on the design Polk has shared with me and others. The 198 is a very solid tweeter. I just wanted a little more IMHO.

damn this thing sounds good. I can not believe the accuracy, tightness, and spl levels this thing can reach. I hit 123db. I can't even put it into words. I am my toughest critic if you have read any of my post, but i love this. You just wouldn't believe this. Anyway here is a pic. Almost done. I am going to have to post a video sometime of the 4 10's jumping. Unfreaken real. No spacey out phase crap. I thought i was going to have some issues. Its all good:)

this right here is what im f-n talkin about!
