No way man. I love the thought of bringing these to PF, but it is hard to get these suckers under a 6'6" door! way to heavy. If I had help, and an enclosed trailer I would possibly consider it, and the host of PF would have to OK this, and I need a solid 40 amps at 120v to power these suckers!

Yes I definitely need to decouple the speakers from the concrete slab, but trying to set thees suckers up on spikes would be very tough. I was looking at using some rubber pads designed for pro speakers.

Are the subs isolated from the the rest of the drivers, or do they share cabinet volume?

They are passive, so they share. From what I understand, the deminsion drivers and stereo drivers or in seperate enclosures, with 2 PR's a peice.

I don't know how Polk would feel about me doing something like that. I'm know you could buy the drivers from Polk. I don't think they would have a problem with you building them. The SDA technology is owned by them. As for plans for the boxes I could set you up with something like that.

PS....I'm driving to Miami at the end of the month to board a cruise ship for a week. I could drop by in Ft. Lauderdale on my way back if it's ok with you.

Well I had company today. My friend the cabinet maker stopped by. He used to own an audio shop, and is very critical. He has heard my other speakers before, and he always has a comment about what is wrong with them. I dragged him over today, and got the usually "Holy $hit". I turned on some DS BIA and played them for a couple. He was amazed at how good they sounded. He told me that when he first saw all the drivers he didn't think they would sound right. I could see him almost shaking his head, and he had a big grin on his face:D I thought for sure he was going to say something was off. I have had him stop in several times to check on my progress as I upgraded. This time no complaints:)

    Time to rest

OK enough resting. Its time to build some SDA 1C's. I already have the parts. Time to get kick-en on the project. I am building these for a buddy of mine. I have known him ever since I can remember. I know he will take care of them. When I am gone(Doctors don't really know whats going on when they estimate) it'll give him something to cherish. His Dad left him an old tube amp, and some real old pioneers. Well his Sis got his Pioneers, but he still has the tube amp. Stuff like that has sentimental value to him.
    Off to work:)

Well I have been driving my speakers with an electronic crossover (car audio), and have decided to go passive. I like the electronic crossover idea, but to get a HiFi active XO cost big bucks. Also with the array of tweeters it needs to be supplemented with passive XO parts anyway. I ordered the parts the other day, and they should be in soon. I am not sure if I will continue to tri amp, or go to bi amp with my setup. My Outlaw PrePro has a separate room volume control that works with everything but SACD so I can control the SDA effect from my couch. I hope to get on this soon.

There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

I am using my wee little brain. Anyone smell smoke? I am basically copying, and modifying Polk's Passive XO. I don't think there are any programs out there that could design an array of domes like this. I am trusting in the vast amounts of time, and money that Polk has invested in the 1.2TL XO's. My tweets are almost the same electronically as the SL3000 in the frequency range that is affected by the XO components.

OK did a little passive XO work today. I was working on the lows. I am running 4 ohms in my arrays, and wanted the higher XO of the 1.2TL's. I am using 1mh Jantez 15 GA, and 27 uf solens, I need to work on the other side soon. I am not looking forward to doing the highs. Lows easy. Highs modified from scratch not fun. It is nice to get the active out of the loop for the lows. My Pre is showing its colors better. the active XO is pretty ghetto. It looks good on paper, but less dynamic, and clear. The bass is cleaner, and more of the punch that I was missing. Also the vocals are less colored. I half blamed it on the XO, highs, and the AMP (GFA7500).
