    I don't think it's going to be that easy without Roethelisdlkfjsldfjagerger, but I also am not buying into the Miami hype, so I think the Steelers will eke one out. Plus Miami's in my division, so I obviously want them to lose :)

    Man, I picked Miami for this game. What time is kickoff again? 7p?

    I am one that always roots for the underdog though, and I hope Miami is good. welcome to miami... miamimimi.

    Falcons win convincingly behind stellar play of Abraham

    and atop the standings of Club Polk NFL pool after week one....

    Now if only San Diego doesn't fall asleep behind the wheel
    I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down.     From what I could see, the only possible changes is to have a few more people in 1st. place, but the ones that are already there won't move down.

    But....there's a lot of weeks ahead, and we can drop two weeks, so for the ones that scored low, don't be discouraged!!!!!

    Actually I'm just stoked about the Falcs...

    Looks like Vick is going to reclaim the GLORY that was three seasons ago...

    if Alge "the Rump" Crumpler gets back on his game, the offense should really pick up some steam...

    And anyway, anytime the dirty birds hold anyone to less than a touchdown is reason for celebration

    The new spread usually gets posted on tuesday after the injury reports are made public. Keep in mind that the spreads can and do change throughout the week so it's a good idea to re-visit your picks before the deadline for each week.

    From the FAQ:
    15. What are the "Favor By" columns on the picks page?
    That is the point spread. There are two "Favor By" columns: One for the away team and one for the home team. If the group you are in is using the point spread to detemine the game winners, then these number will be very important to you. If your group is not using the point spread, then they are just reference. The point spreads will be entered or updated up until the day before a game is to be played. We will use the point speads as posted in the St. Petersburg Times (St. Petersburg, Florida).

    In Team A vs Team B:
    The spread says "Team A +3".
    Does that mean Team B has to WIN by more than 3 for your Team B pic to be a winner ?

    No...Team B could be down up to 3 points and still be a winner; the team that has the spread needs to win by at least that amount to be a winner.

    Right. So if a team is "+3" they're being "given" three points. YOu take their score at the end of the game, and you "+3" to it, and then whoever wins wins.

    Well, actually it's the other way around....if team A has +3, you need to take away those 3 points to the final score of team A. :)

    Um, no. Pretend this was a line :

    Oakland +3 San Diego -3

    Final score, Oakland 14, San Diego 16

    To determine who won, with the spread, you ADD three to Oakland's score, or SUBTRACT three from San Diego's score. Oakland is being GIVEN three points. In this case, Oakland lost the game but won against the spread.

    Here it is..

    If a team is favored by "X" amount of points they must beat their opponent by more than "X" in order to win.
    Example:
    If you pick a team to win and they are favored by 6 points they must score at least 7 points to win. Anything less is is either a tie (not a win in the football pool) or a loss.

    Sorry...but wrong; if Oakland has a +3 spread, they would need to score 20 to be a winner in the pool. 19 would give them a tie, and 18 would make San Diego the pool winner.

    Sorry, I wasn't looking at the way the pool laid them out. For official gambling lines, like you see at a casino or on Yahoo, the favored team is listed as "-3.5" and the underdog is "+3.5". The way our pool does it, it just says "favored by", in gambling talk, that is "-".

    Here's teh point spread for the Buffalo / Miami game, for example

    1:00 pm Buffalo +6.5-110
    at Miami -6.5-110
    37 ov-110

    Miami is favored by 6.5.

    Sorry for the confusion.
