It's a wood that a lot of tobacco pipes are made from. Savinelli would probably be the most popular brand using that type of wood. Pipes are great in the winter time.

I ran a cigar and pipe shop for a friend a few years ago as a part time gig at night. Love it, wish I could go back.

Im the draft technician for a beer distributor.

I service and maintian all our draft lines in Chattanooga and also deliver some.

We're the import carriers. Not crap like Corona or Heineken but the REAL imports, the stuff that was brewed in Europe and sent over here on a ship. Stuff like Warsteiner, St Pauli, Newcastle, Bass, Harp, Lindemans Framboise ($6/12 oz bottle), Paulaner and so on. Also have some Asian brands like Tsing Tao, Sapporo and Kirin not to mention some hippy beers like Rogue and Flying Dog brewed in Seattle.

According to my business card, I am a "Regulatory Analyst" for the California Public Utilities Commission. I basically process claims, about half a billion dollars' worth each year, submitted by phone companies for a subsidy to rural schools, libraries, and hospitals. I am the only person in the whole state doing this.

Sounds a lot like Snap-On Tools. My dad's been with Snap-On for 32 years now, as a dealer most of the time, and a field-manager for 3 years earlier on. Neat stuff y'all design/fabricate. How much 'engineering' goes into designing something to a customer's requests and then producing the actual piece?

To explain my responses to some of the engineering type professions here, lemme say I'm currently investigating (though I admit much too passively) various engineering fields, based on my like for math and mechanics. Given the number of people here who seem to be somehow related to these fields, I think I'm going to start a thread about engineering and the like.

I'm a water plant manager. At least that's what it says on my business card. In reality it's more like chemist, electrician, plumber, radio telemetry technician, engineer, mechanic, maid, security guard, secretary, and general pencil-pusher and complaint-taker. And I'm basically on call 24/7.

I have a degree in earth science, and AWWA class 4 (the highest) water treatment and distribution certification. And I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Right now I'm working for a carpet mill as a utility weaver. Basically, I'm responsible for retrieving and replacing the beams of yarn that the looms use when they're weaving carpet. I also take the cuts of finished carpet off the loom, and clean them from time to time. It mostly involves a lot of lifting heavy beams with chain hoists. The full nylon beams weigh around 2 tons a piece.

It's not a very exciting job, except when one of the shuttles comes flying out of the loom or a slide doesn't stop at the end of it's run... then it gets a bit exciting. It is pretty cool working for a company that has put carpet in many large airports and casinos, as well as the US House of Representatives.

You can see their website at www.bloomsburgcarpet.com but sadly there are no pictures of the plant that I can find :(

I'm an Electrical Engineer for an Automotive supplier. Most of my work is in embedded software but I have recently taken up hardware design (which as it turns out is more hunting for parts then actual design work).

I also have my own Paintball company, Suppression Paintball LLC (with one other guy). Nothing happening with this yet, but we have a local team who wants boards from us. Just need to get em done and figure out all the legal stuff involved with actually selling a product like this. Hopefully we will have product for 2007 model markers.
