Yeah, I know. I've been contemplating my fall routine -- get the belly mower off my John Deere and get the 60" snowblower on! Got to get ready for the onslaught -- AND pray that this winter is not like the last one. :\

Nevertheless, it is a terrible kind of beauty!

    oh, yeah -- you're somewhere up this-a-way, aren't you?
Last winter was, shall we say... a late bloomer :- (

Now... thanks to the exceptional kindness of the Polk Forum's "Hermitism" -- and due to my deeply-ingrained sloth -- I am finally getting around to putting some photons through his very interesting and rather rare 85 mm (EDIT: D'oh! 80 mm... Eighty mm!) Nikkor AF lens. I cannot take advantage of the AF, so it's on an old but proud Nikon F body for some good old film photography. Further details as events warrant :- )

(sorry about the screwy color balance on the second photo. I tried to "improve" it using unfamiliar s/w... and couldn't figure out how to undo it. Fortunately, I do still have the original image on the memory card.)

    Nice gift and great lens.

Those old Nikon Fs are, indeed "proud." One of my daughters signed up for a photography course in her senior year in high school. In the first class the instructor asked the students what camera they planned to use. My daughter said she could use either a whizzy new Canon 35mm SLR or her father's old Nikon F. With a big grin, the instructor said, "You'll use the Nikon, and you'll really learn how to take photographs!"

    She did, and she did!

I look forward to seeing your photos with the 80 mm Nikkor AF.

Nice older camera's. Daughter collects them. I keep trying to get her into vintage audio stuff. Her answer is always the same. Some day Dad all your stuff will be mine anyway. So true she is...

Yeah - our son had decent hifi stuff in college; now he listens to his laptop and is happy enough. He'd rather have cameras -- which is OK, too.

I'd like to see a picture of your backyard with you son's field camera! I take it that was him in the picture carrying one?

BTW, I like how I can see you twice in that pic of the Rolleiflex :)

Awesome, haven't seen one of those in years. I had one about 20 years ago and even back then people would ask me what it was. Unfortunately my wife was driving it when an idiot kid crossed the median and totaled it. Only had about 30K miles on it too, sigh.

You don't see many of them around anymore. Only 21,500 of them were made in four years of production (1988-1991). When I go to the Cars & Coffee meet in Knoxville that usually has 300-400 cars show up I have never seen another Reatta there. The number one comment I get about my Reatta is: "What is that?". It's fun to have a unique car but it would be nice to have some Reatta buddies close by to get together with from time to time.

The Reatta was very high tech for it's time. It has three computers that control almost everything on the car. First car I know of that had a CRT display with a touch screen to control most of the electronic functions of the car. Radio, Climate control and on-board diagnostics are all controlled by touching the screen.
