This is not how I picture Jesse out sailing in the bay! My buddy had a old English sailboat that was slower then dirt, the Cats would fly by us like we were sitting still, saying how they were going to boards us and steal all the beer.2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

Ever think about putting in a big pond on that nice piece of property there ? Could even make it a swimming hole too with a nice pier and deck going out.HT SYSTEM-

that heron doesnt look like much in that pic, but a full grown gbh wings wide out flying over your head is a hell of an impressive sight.
Thanks for a nother cool pic mr. Mhumpty dumpty was pushed -
They look like freakin' Pterodactyls in flight (GBHs, that is).
I'd love to put in a pond here -- the one thing about this property that wasn't optimal was that there's no water on it (although there is a small stream at the lower corner down by the road).

Are you going to pick up ALL those LEAVES when they fall, Mark? My smallish, 1/3 of an acre is ALREADY out of hand! lol

I am planning (as much as I plan anything) to finish up with your lens and teleconverter in the next week & get 'em on their way back to you; thanks again!

A pond would look gorgeous on your property pal. Leaves ? A properly installed pond doesn't worry about leaves....plus mother nature takes care of them in her own way. I would have it professionally done though, seen too many train wrecks by some DIY'ers. Not only will it add beauty to the landscape, but will also attract additional wildlife while giving your camera an additional workout. Stock with some wild native fish and your supper is always available. Put a pier in with a bench at the end to sit with the wife and take it all in. Talk about stress relief....go for it bro.HT SYSTEM-

weird weather in New England -- gorgeous yesterday, "unsettled" today. Rain and sunshine @ the same time today, yup, unsettled.

We'll be seeing that soon enough here...
Yeah, I know. I've been contemplating my fall routine -- get the belly mower off my John Deere and get the 60" snowblower on! Got to get ready for the onslaught -- AND pray that this winter is not like the last one.
Nevertheless, it is a terrible kind of beauty!
oh, yeah -- you're somewhere up this-a-way, aren't you?
Last winter was, shall we say... a late bloomer :- (
Now... thanks to the exceptional kindness of the Polk Forum's "Hermitism" -- and due to my deeply-ingrained sloth -- I am finally getting around to putting some photons through his very interesting and rather rare 85 mm (EDIT: D'oh! 80 mm... Eighty mm!) Nikkor AF lens. I cannot take advantage of the AF, so it's on an old but proud Nikon F body for some good old film photography. Further details as events warrant :- )

(sorry about the screwy color balance on the second photo. I tried to "improve" it using unfamiliar s/w... and couldn't figure out how to undo it. Fortunately, I do still have the original image on the memory card.)
take the UV filters off when you shoot...they hurt sharpness....Teacher of mine once said "why are you covering a $500 lens with a $5 piece of glass...?"Marantz 1152 DC- Denon DP 1200, Soundsmith Carmen MKII- ADS L980 - Blue Jeans IC's -

... but they can fly -- and there're thousands of acres of forest in the vicinity.
The one thing we haven't seen, to date, is a moose. The moose population in the northeast is down due to a tick-borne disease, unfortunately.

Why I like Nikon :- )
Ca. 1959 vintage Nikon F (35mm) and 2014 vintage Nikon Df (full-frame digital); both cameras sporting similar, and very vintage, "non-AI" 50 mm f1.4 Nikkor-S lenses.
Nikon customers tend to be a loyal bunch... and Nikon does encourage that (to their credit).
