The last manager we had before I retired wasn't technical.
She was IT procurement. My wife knew more about IT

What Fears Have you HAD as Kid?
This one popped up on CL a few days ago to remind me of one of mine. I almost always only look at "electronics", but on that day earlier this week, I forgot to select "electronics" and this thing showed up under "antiques".

As the description notes, the first viable Polio vaccine became available in 1955. I am old enough to remember how scary Polio was before the vaccine. For me it was not the disease, but the results of the disease that scared holy h*ll out of me. I saw all of the kids with Polio on TV in these iron lungs. I "read" Life and Look magazine. People lived in them for years. (In 2021, there was one person still using one at night.) I tried to picture myself in one if Polio got me. I remember seeing the donation boxes shaped like an iron lung in stores, especially in the local drug store where I would glance at the PlayBoy Magazines (guilt) on the rack.
I remember getting the first Polio vaccine and then "freedom".
The latest pandemic in no way affected me like the Polio scares.
Thank you, March of Dimes!

Yep.
... and your previous post put me to mind of Watney's Red Barrel ale -- and I reckon you know why.

Older photo. You may have seen this before. Now, I don't know how exactly this guy got into this predicament but he is one extremely lucky dude.
His vehicle was crushed by two semi trucks and he survived, with only a small cut on one of his fingers that required a band-aid.
The vehicle he was driving? A Chevy Silverado.
[EDIT;] Found the original crash. https://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/2015/01/interstate_84_semi-truck_crash_1.html
