Four men were riding a Muskeg tractor and its sledges near the Heimefront Mountains, to the east of their base at Halley Research Station in East Antarctica, close to the Weddell Sea. The Muskeg was a heavy-duty vehicle designed to haul people and supplies over long distances on the ice. A team of dogs ran behind.

So -- when I was in college I had to read Robert M. Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. It was a required text... for Cell Biology Lab. Yes, it's true -- and yes, the professor was (rather literally) nuts. I'll tell you more about him some time...
I don't remember all that much about the book any more (it was the 'seventies... OK.. man?
), but I do remember the narrator teeing off on the outrageously poor quality of instruction manuals. His pitch was that no company wants to waste good engineers' time on the low-value task of writing the manual, so they foist it on the worst gold-brick in the organization, because, that way, the harm he (in those days, most were "hes") would do was minimal. That sounded about right to, you know, 19 year old me.
So, it was refreshing today to see this example of a modern manual on Twitter. My son shared this with me.

Speaking of model trains:
Saw this on FB Marketplace and it sold in one day this week. What a collection!
As a kid, I had and liked American Flyer trains because the track had two rails versus Lionel track that had three rails.
I had most of the catalogs too, and I remember some of these large steam engines with four wheels. As an adult in my work travels, I met a model train guy in Newark NJ at Mutual Benefit Life and we went to train shows each time I traveled to NJ.
