    Ok, ok don't turn this political or anything, or at least anymore. Many different points of view here, some good some bad.

    I find the CA wildfires have more to do with what we have done or failed to do. These wild fires suck, can we do more to stop or limit them, yes.


    As for CA being the most screwed up state... All states have their up and downs, doesn't matter which way they swing.
    When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

    Your forgetting the amount California receives from the Federal Government.
    It is a net $12 per resident.
    In past years, it is true California was a net giver state by a relatively small margin, but recently it is a net getter state.

    Well I have to admit, I lived in CA for 4 years. Yes, somewhat sequestered at Vandenberg AFB, but after I left the Air Force, well, it's a nice place to visit. Been back a few times to visit friends, and the Mrs has family out there. Just not my thing. That's OK, IMO.

    Wrong again.
    New Ca law (enacted by PUC and signed by Gov Newsome) REQUIRES utilities (ALL, not just PG&E) to de-energize areas that face severe wind threat/ fire risk.
    This has the Doppler effect of potentially impacting huge swaths of the State if that threat impacts a “Transmission” (500/230KV) Tower corridor(s).
    When that level of shut off is enacted, you don’t just flip a switch back on. The law requires PG&E to physically/visually inspect every single piece of equipment (down voltage) of the shut down BEFORE it can be re-energized. This means every tower, line, transformer, pad apparatus, substation, pole, reclosure, etc.

    Additionally there is California Senate Bill No. 901 CHAPTER 626 pertaining to utility wildfire mitigation and
    there was a Case No. 14-CR-00175-WHA, RESPONSE TO ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE WHY PG&E’S CONDITIONS OF PROBATION SHOULD NOT BE MODIFIED which discusses PG&E's responsibility for wildfire mitigation.

    PG&E says this in their news releases here and here
    For restoration to begin, the company must inspect its affected equipment to ensure no damage has occurred to its equipment.
    This is typical utility practice for storm restoration.
