As you can see above I put in the BH5 per David's suggestion, I did mine a little different, I hot glued two pieces of wood from top to bottom 3.5" wide, and cut the BH5 3.5" wide X 5.5" tall.

If I don't like it I will take it out with a hot knife...

Larry while I like your idea, Wonder what polished copper or a bronze would look like?

I would love to see it in polished copper with teak veneer . Don't think I like the brass.

    Bravo, Bravo.
2 channel: Anthem 225 Integrated amp; Parasound Ztuner; TechnicsTT SL1350; Vincent PHO-8 phono pre; Marantz CD6005 spinner; Polk SDA2BTL's; LAT International speaker cables, ZU Mission IC's and power cables all into a PS Audio Dectet Power center.

Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.

Well they are both done, and singing some Steve Reid as I post..

They sound incredible, and I don't even have them set up properly yet, they are just sitting in front of my 1.2tl's right now..

They were worth the time and effort, I'm grinning a big smile right now!!!

All I have left to do is make some Stainless spikes to match the nose piece, and I am going to cut some stainless to put behind the Polk Audio logo's. Oh and I'm going to order some stainless hardware for the drivers and tweeters..

    :p

Ok, so before I did all this work these speakers were upgraded with gimpod's boards, sonicaps, dueland resisters, and a .5 mills in place of the polyswitch. As well they had the rings..

Now they still have that, but they also have janzen inductors, as well they have the 16mh solen inductor..

So it's hard to tell what effect having the crossovers externally mounted are having on the sound, but I can tell you they sound as good as they look, they sound 100 times better then they did...

I won't go in to it too much till I have them in place of the 1.2tl's...

Outstanding Larry, you've really taken those to a level way beyond anyone would have thought possible.

Diggin' the look of those crossover boxes too. Have you ever considered taking that front sloped part and maybe cutting out a rectangle with some plexiglass to give a view to the crossovers ? Maybe even light the interior with a nice easy shade of blue ? Maybe put it in the back if you think it would be too distracting in the front. That way the rear of the speaker would offer the view while throwing some nice ambient light behind the speaker. Just a thought....

    Thanks Tony, B)

It did cross my mind, but how the crossover is mounted on that sloped it wouldn't work right, but I also think it looks better with the black blending it together..
