Pour over coffee maker anyone?

Mr Coffee with a timer, and Maxwell House.. Get up pour a cup with a touch of sugar and cream, and I'm good to go..

No way am I getting up at 4:00AM and going through all that to make a cup of coffee. If I want a special cup of Joe I will hit the coffee house..

If I had one of those I'd be afraid to use it because it looks so good, especially the red version.

The best regular coffee I have had is also with a Frieling french press with water from a Breville kettle, but not all that often because of the time factor. Mostly it's weak coffee from a basic Keurig at work.

LOL.....man, some of you guys might as well put your wallet in the basket and pour over.

To me, the key is a good grinder, freshly ground and anything that can brew at the proper temp. Not much else matters to me. Pour over, drip, automatic.....once the basics are in place a good cup of joe follows regardless.

I'm a coffee fanatic, so I won't go into details about my SOP for making my daily cup -- four shots of expresso + eight ounces of steamed milk -- for my own version of a cappuccino.

However, my oldest daughter feeds my coffee fetish, and this Christmas she gave me another gadget, which is inexpensive and makes a great cup of coffee:

Good water is very important as well. I use RO water.... pretty tasteless adds no flavor and keeps the machine clean of deposits...

Reverse Osmosis. Its a purification method whereby water is pushed through a membrane to purfiy it.

My mother in-law used to make it like that. Strong.....only thing is you couldn't drink that last third of the pot. It was like Ellie May Clampent special.

I drink my coffee black no sugar and don't like starbucks and dunkin d is not the same since they started brewing it in urns... If you haven' t tried the new mickey d's it too me tastes better than $ tar 5bucks or dumpedin donuts. and it's like $1 for a large. I only get coffee out when absolutely necessary like when I am in an airport or away from home.

I have my espresso maker plumbed to our reverse osmosis system, which we also use for our ice maker and drinking water.

Pure water is critical for good coffee and tea, and the reverse osmosis system delivers the goods.

I have tried both and settled on the JBM as it is less acidic to me and I drink alot of it. The Kona is a fuller and would be better with milk/cream imho.

I couldn't wait, I had to try the JBM. I cleaned out the grinder to get rid of any remaining coffee from my last grind. I think it was an Aribica from World Market. I ground up enough JBM for two mugs of coffee.

In a word, I am spoiled. Okay, even I know that's three words. Amazing medium-full body but smooth as silk. No bitterness whatsoever and full long lasting flavor that extends well after you swallow. Definitely not acidic at all.

Simply the best cup of coffee I have ever made.

Thanks for the great suggestion. I will wait on the Kona, since I am the only coffee drinker in the house and I don't want to open the bag just yet.

and it is still cheaper and better than buying coffee out... That's how I justify it in my head. Any other cup of coffee is just to wake me up... This is to savor... It's nice to be spoiled.

You only live once.

No reason not to pamper yourself with the best coffee -- to your taste -- that you can find and brew.

I just finished the first of two 1/2 pound bags of Jamaica Blue Mountain that I recently purchased, and @Jimbo18 describes the character of JBM very well.

However, it does not have sufficient body to make great cappuccino. In my opinion, "cutting" JB with foamed milk is a waste of that particular coffee -- best drink JBM straight. Cappuccino needs some bold Sumatran beans, for example, in my opinion. Sumatran Blue Batak comes to mind.

And, I am partial to the "mouth feel" that good microfoamed milk gives the right coffee.
